home sweet pennsylvania

Happy Saturday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. It was a busy day but definitely an enjoyable one.
My good friend Cindi's daughter is having a baby next month and today was the baby shower. She received so many cute things. She is having a boy -her first baby and Cindi's first grandchild.

In fact, her daughter-in-law is having a baby 2 weeks later. So Cindi  is just ecstatic-she has wanted grandkids for such a long time.

Several young mothers had their infants at the shower. I am always in awe looking at a baby-I see God's creative hand at work. What a wonderful gift that He gives us.

I made Gina a onsie card to go along with the gift I gave her. She loved it-do you believe I didnt take a photo of it.
I made 3 of them so I will photo the others and post them later.

My card today is for 2 challenges:

1.  The inspiration challenge on splitcoaststampers was to make a card that was inspired by our home state. Our hostess even gave us a website to visit to get info about our state.
I learned that the state bird of Pennsylvania is the ruffled grouse.
Our forefathers gave the name pheasant to this bird. I didn't have a pheasant stamp but I had some rub-ons from stampin-up's autumn harvest collection.

2.  My 2nd challenge and  layout for the card is from the ODBD blog. The challenge today was a sketch.
I think it set my pheasant image off well.
Since the image was white I had to place it on dark paper. I decided to use eggplant and kiwi kiss.
I  had some eggplant designer paper from colorbok that I have wanted to use.
For my kiwi kiss color I used the raspberry tart collection that had some kiwi kiss paper in it.

On my first  kiwi kiss panel I ran it through a cuttlebug folder for texture. On this layer I used a new stampin up border punch-it was the free one from sale-a-bration.
My thanks sentiment is a rub-on from the same collection as the pheasant. I added a piece of eggplant ribbon and that completed my card.

Well, its time to dim the lights for another day in charmed life land. Tomorrow its up early for church and I want to be rested. Our pastor has a great message planned. God bless my friends.

card recipe:
