top note quilt
Happy Friday and thanks for taking the time to viist the charmed life blog.
Well, we went from sunny and 83 degree temps to overcast, windy and 45 degrees.
My furnace clicked back on today. I remember shutting the ac off a few days ago.
It's a typical sping here in the 'Burgh. The temps swing sometimes erractically.
But,the good news is that it is spring and the tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are in bloom.
Also, the dogwood trees with their beautiful white flowers.
We don't have one but they are all over my neighborhood.
There is nothing that compares with God's creation!!
My card for today was for the free for all challenge on splitcoaststampers.
Our hostess, Wendybell, challenged us to make a quilt card from our scraps. I have never made a quilt card before. But, I wanted to use my top note die with a technique I had seen done on splitcoaststampers.
I don't sew so this is as close as I will get to making a quilt. I love quilts and the Amish quilts that I have seen in Ohio are so beautiful..
I used some scraps from the ginger blossom designer pack (retired stampin up). I punched the squares with a 1 3/8" square punch and taped them onto a piece of cardstock.
Then I took the top note die and ran it through the big shot machine. It produced a quilt look rather easily.
I didn't tape it to the die so it moved slightly when I ran it through the big shot. And, the tip on the bottom of the shape was cut off. I wasn't about to tape all those squares again so I used some photo corners and covered all the tips.
The photo corners were from the "just delightful" simply scrappin kit. I am using up some of my stash. My card base is cameo coral.
I added some pearls and stamped my sentiment and that is my card.
It's time to turn off the lights in charmed life land for another day, my friends. Hope your weekend is a good one.
card recipe:
stamps: wow flowers
paper: cameo coral, ww, ginger blossom dsp
ink: cameo coral
Accessories: top note die, nesties labels 2, amuse pearls

ReplyDeleteThis card is delightful Mary... Love it.. it is helping me to keep warm.. the colors are so wonderfully warm to my heart... Love it.. we went from 93 on Monday to 29 last night... a huge difference... and we lost a lot of plants due to the weather.. not a good thing... our fruit trees took the hardest hit... we are up in the mountains high enough to get these cold snaps... but I do love living here...

ReplyDeleteI have always loved this DP and it looks lovely as a 'pieced quilt'! It got chilly here in VA yesterday and I had to dig out my winter coat again to wear to work. :-( How creative to use the photo corners to cover up the 'oops' moment...sometimes great ideas are born from mistakes - lol!
