Crazy For Challenges Guest Designer

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog.  I am starting off my weekend with my 3rd post as the June Guest Designer for the Crazy 4 Challenges!

Peggy is our hostess and for the 3rd week of June she gave us a great sketch to work into a card.

I made this card for my hubby for Father's Day.  I used a new die from My Favorite Things to create my card. It's a Die-Namics centerpieces die-  “you mean the world to me".  I received it in my latest MFT order.

I cut the world 3 times. Once in pool party, once in gumball green and then again in basic gray. I used a Spellbinders circle die for the world image in pool party. I took the gumball green land masses and popped them in the blue world. I wanted some dimension.

Under the basic gray panel, I added tempting turquoise and gumball green to highlight the words. I added a turquoise heart with my hubby’s name. The letters are from the words in the die. To complete my card, I die cut some chevrons from a Stampin-Up die.

The background designer paper is from the Stampin-Up “nautical expedition” collection.

Hope you can play along with the "Crazies" this week using this fun sketch. Take a minute to drop by the Crazy For Challenges blog and check out all the fabulous projects from the team.

Card Recipe:
Paper: pool party, tempting turquoise, gumball green, smoky slate, basic gray, nautical expedition dsp

Guest Designer Stencil Card

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I am starting off my weekend with my 2nd post as the month long Guest Designer for the Crazy 4 Challenges!

Peggy is our hostess and here is her challenge to us: "Seems that using stencils has taken off in the papercraft world. You do not have to run out and buy a stencil for this challenge. You can use die cuts, punches or stickers to make a stencil. Let’s see some stenciling creativity"!
I have several unused stencils so I decided to use one of those instead of creating one from a die cut. The one I chose to use is the MFT "sun-ray" stencil.

I had this idea brewing in my head for making a graduation card with it. Needed a grad card for my friend's son. The school colors are red and white.

I sponged some Ranger distress wild honey and squeezed lemonade inks on the stencil sun rays.
I used a Spellbinders circle die and stamped my sentiment in real red ink. The sentiment is a single stamp from the Stampin-Up Wordplay set - "dream".
My grad cap (H166) is from Great Impressions Stamps. To complete my card I added a few die cut stars using the Verve "starry die".

That's my card for this week's challenge. Drop over to the Crazy For Challenges Blog to see what the rest of the talented design team has created.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: WordPlay (Stampin' Up), Graduation Hats-H166 (Great Impressions)
Ink: Real Red, Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade
Paper: WW, real red
Accessories: MFT sun-ray stencil die, Spellbinders circle dies, Verve starry die

I am also entering:
1.  Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge is "stencil it"
2.  Word Art Wednesday has an anything goes challenge.

~Father's Day Wishes~ C4C239

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I am starting off my weekend with my first post as the month long Guest Designer for Crazy 4 Challenges! What a talented group of crafters! Thanks for the invitation Peggy!

The first challenge is "Man Made".

How many of us need more masculine cards in our stash? Have some men/boys that have a birthday coming up? A special sport event? Graduation? Father’s Day is just around the corner too! So let’s see some masculine cards/projects!
I am so behind with my Father's Day cards so that's the route I took. I decided to use the Stampin-Up "open sea" set and designer paper from the "nautical expedition" collection. I used this card from Pinterest as my inspiration. Made changes to make it my own.

My background panel is smoky slate and I stamped some of the images in early espresso ink. Layered not quite navy on this panel. Used the Mft "flag stax" dies to cut the pennants from the designer paper.

The image panel is also smoky slate and I stamped images in early espresso and the ship in not quite navy. I used some burlap underneath this panel. To finish off my card, I die cut an anchor and stamped my sentiment.

That's my card for this first challenge. Drop over to the Crazy For Challenges Blog to see what the rest of the talented design team has created.

Card Recipe:

Ink: early espresso and not quite navy (Stampin-Up)

Christmas in July

Happy Friday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It is so hot and humid here in Pittsburgh. This is a perfect time to create a Christmas card. Not that I am looking to rush through our summer season. It seemed like forever before it arrived.

This card I made for my guest design spot on the Cleary iStamp Blog.

My card is using the Angels digital image. I paper pieced her dress and gave her a pretty red Christmas outfit. On her wings I used Flower Soft and colored her face, hair, gloves and trumpet with prismacolor pencils.

I placed her in an outdoor scene. My designer paper is from Echo Park. The hill, tree and sentiment are all dies from PaperTrey Ink. I added some glitter on the hills to complete my card.

Our Daily Bread Designs Guest Designer

Happy Sunday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. We had a great weekend. Hope yours went well. I went shopping with my bff on Friday. I found a couple of deals in Chico's that I was happy about. I just love their clothes.

My friend was on the look-out for earrings and we went to Tiffany's in our local mall. She bought a pair of gold hoops. I was in sticker shock at the price. Somehow in this store you feel like you should be dressed to the hilt just to walk in there (lol)!!

Saturday we had a family get together at my nieces home. It was great to see the extended family. Julie has a karaoke program on her laptop that she runs off the flat screen tv. There is a wireless microphone so your voice bellows. I took a turn- well in fact several turns it was so much fun. I even persuaded my hubby to sing with me.

Now, onto my card for today. This is the last card I made for my guest design spot with Our Daily Bread Designs. My sentiment is from the Quote Collection 1 set. I just love this Abraham Lincoln quote from the set.

I used a layout from the MojoMonday sketch #289. It was a fun one to work with.

My designer papers are from the Stampin-Up collection "Parisian Breeze". My dies are all Spellbinders.

To complete my card I die cut a rectangle, a pennant flag and added a corduroy button.

Well that's it for me for today. So until next time..........God bless.

I am also entering:
1.  Addicted To Stamps has a beautiful button challenge. Since my card is masculine, I think a corduroy button is great for a guy.
2.  Amusing Challenges has an anything goes.
3.  Challenges 4 Everybody has an anything goes.
4.  Robyn's Fetish has a stripes or dots challenge. I used both on my card.

ODBD Guest Designer Week 4

Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I had a freak accident on Monday. I was coming down from upstairs and my slipper caught the end of my step and I went sliding down. Now as a kid that was a fun thing to do but as an adult not so much.

My steps are hardwood and it seemed like ice when I started going. I wasn't able to stop myself until 6-7 steps later. It's almost comical now but as it was happening a thought flashed through my mind that I could get hurt.

When I stopped I realized I was okay but my lower back was a little sore and my shoulder blade.  My hubby was at work but I called him immediately so he could pray for me.

I took an Advil a couple of times during the day. Well I am happy to report that I am okay and I had no stiffness or pain the next day. Just a bruise mark on my butt. Thank the Lord for his protection.
Lesson learned: Don't run down steps because your cell phone is ringing.

Now onto my card for today. This is my final week as a guest designer for Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps. I really enjoyed my month stint as a guest.

This card was made using the set "Let Us Begin". It has quotes from Mother Teresa. I picked up on the measure theme by using designer paper that has a ruler on it. It's from Stampin-Ups "storytime collection".

My layout is the sketch from MFT's Wednesday sketch club. Well that's it for me for this post so until next time...........God bless.

I am also entering:
1.  Pause, Dream, Enjoy has a friendship challenge.
2.  Challenges For Everybody has an anything goes.

ODBD Guest Designer Week 3

Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I have been watching off and on today the television coverage of the bombing attack in Boston.
This still makes no sense that someone could build a bomb to kill innocent people. How someone could justify an action like this is incomprehensible to me.

The stories of heroes are starting to come out as well. People acted quickly to help those in need. I read about the former NFL player who was watching the race and rushed to help victims.

I heard one TV commentator say today that we need to respect our God-given abilities, do good with them and help others in need. All I can say to that is AMEN!!

Onto my card for today. This is my 3rd weeks as a guest designer for Our Daily Bread Designs. I am still so thrilled that I was asked to be a guest designer.

This card was made using the set "birds and butterfly labels". It coordinates with the Spellbinders labels 18 dies. The sentiment is from the "Mother's Day" set.

I paired it up with Stampin-Up designer paper from the Sycamore Street collection. My layout is the April Week 3 Verve sketch.

I completed this card with some Stampin-Up pool party seam binding bow with a button center.

Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time........God bless.

I am also entering:
1.  Addicted To Stamps and More has an anything goes challenge.
2Really Reasonable Ribbon has a Mother's Day and ribbon challenge.

Our Daily Bread Designs Guest

Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. This is my 2nd week as the April guest designer for Our Daily Bread Designs.

For this card I used a sentiment from the Quotes Collection 1. I loved this one from Helen Keller. So I decided to use some bright and bold colors to go along with the quote.

I stamped the sentiment in chocolate chip and cut with the Spellbinders labels 18 die. Before I removed from the die I sponged with peach parfait ink. I layered over another die cut in peach parfait and added some pearls for a finishing touch.

My background paper is from a retired Stampin-Up collection. It features peach parfait and pear pizzazz. I embossed a panel with the Sizzix fancy fan embossing folder. To complete my card I added some peach parfait ribbon and a white lacy doily.

Well that's it for me for this post. I am traveling back from San Francisco today. So until next time..... God bless.

I am also entering:
1.  Crafts and Me has a lace and pearls challenge.
2.  Fab 'n' Funky has a spring colors challenge.

ODBD Guest Designer Post

Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It's quite a sunny and bright day here in Pittsburgh, although very cold. It always makes me feel good when the sun is out.
,
And, speaking of feeling good. For the month of April, I am a guest designer for Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps. Kelley will be featuring my cards for the next 4 Wednesdays. They had a contest a couple of months ago and I was one of three designers selected as a guest. I am so thrilled at this opportunity.

I love all their scripture based stamps and have been using their products almost from the beginning of the company. They are celebrating their 5 year anniversary now.

My card is using the set "little boys". This is such a versatile set and besides the image there are 6 sentiments. I used the 100% boy sentiment on my card. Perfect for a boys birthday especially with the designer paper I used.

I stamped the image in midnight muse ink and cut it out with a Spellbinders oval die. Added some background sponging. The paper is something I had in my stash and it's from ColorBok. I also added some blue fiber that I had in my stash as well. Bought it from QVC years ago.

My card layout is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch blog #179.

Well that's it for me for today. Time to get my tax stuff in order since I have an appointment tomorrow to get it filed.

So until next time.........God bless.

I'm also entering:
1. Loves Rubber Stamps has an anything goes challenge.
2. PaperTake Weekly also is anything goes.
3. Through The Craft Room Door is also anything goes.
4. Top Tip Tuesday has a girls/boys come out to play challenge.
