~There was a girl~

Easel card Closed view

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It's a beautiful summer Saturday here in Pittsburgh.

There was also a rubber stamp show held here this weekend. So guess where I spent 5 hours of my day? There were make and takes and lots of product for sale. A fun day for any crafter.

I also went to a graduation party later in the day. The young woman who graduated is from our church. She is excited about going away to school and starting the next phase of her life. So my card for today was made in Jaime's honor.

I used the colors from this week's color challenge #486 on Splitcoaststampers.  Barbara is our hostess and her challenge colors are: old olive, calypso coral and daffodil delight.

Option is to make a fancy fold card. I decided to go with an easel card. See tutorial here.

My images and sentiments are from the Waltzingmouse set “half pint heroines”. I stamped the image and colored with the new Stampin-Up blendabilities in old olive and daffodil delight. My calypso coral color is a Copic marker. I then fussy cut the hot air balloon to place in the scene.

Easel card open view

For the finishing touches on the outdoor scene I started with the PaperTrey Ink die "in the meadow" to create my hills. The houses were cut from the Cheery Lynn Designs die "winter village". The sun and cloud are dies from MFT.

My thought process for the scene is the graduate leaving her home for college. Hence, the houses, hills and hot air balloon.  I thought the sentiments I used really described  who Jaime is as a young woman.

Well it's time to dim the lights in Charmed Life land for another day so until next time.........God bless.

Card Details:
Stamps: half pint heroines (Waltzingmouse)
Paper: calypso coral, old olive, choc chip, ww, sweet pea dsp (Stampin-Up) Neenah White
Paper Size: A2 Ink: memento tuxedo black
Accessories: Cheery Lynn Designs winter village die, MFT sun and clouds die, PTI in the meadow die, SU blendabilities old olive, daffodil delight, Copic R22, R24

Super Hero

Hello Blogger friends!! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Been busy the past few days getting ready for my son and his family to visit. They will be here with us for a week. My little granddaughter is excited to be coming back again for a visit. They were here in April but it was under such different circumstances.

We will be spending time with my other son and his family that live here in Pittsburgh. It will be good for all of us to be together again.

I plan on taking Phoenix Daisy to one of our local farms and hopefully to pick strawberries. We also bought her a little 2 wheeler because she has learned how to ride without training wheels. She is only 3 so I think that is impressive. Lots of other plans but I am not sure at this point how much of it we will actually do.

Now onto my card for today. I created this for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge #482. I was the challenge hostess and I chose a kaleidoscope of colors with basic black, white, crushed curry, strawberry slush and bermuda bay. The option was to make a father’s day or masculine card.

My card layout is the June Viva la Verve week 1 sketch. The background paper is from the Stampin-Up designer paper “kaleidoscope collection”. It’s so perfect for a masculine card.

The larger sentiment is from the Waltzingmouse set “man of the hour”. To make the “hero” word stand out, I colored with a bermuda bay marker. The Father’s day wishes sentiment is from the Verve set “strong anchor”.

The pierced middle panel of crushed curry is die cut from the MFT blueprints 3 die. My stars are what completed my card and the die is from the Verve ‘starry die”.

That's my card for today. Time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time........God bless.

I am attaching a video of my sweet little granddaughter. She was a flower girl in a wedding recently. I laugh every time I watch this. She was on a mission to get her rose petals thrown. Enjoy!

~Best Dad Ever~

Hello Blogger Friends!! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Today is Father's Day, and we spent it with my son and family. We had a delicious dinner and just enjoyed each other's company.

My daughter-in-law grilled flank steak that she marinated in some delicious herbs and olive oil. She made a pasta dish with red potatoes and green beans that my hubby and son really like.

I made a tossed salad and some baby back ribs and that was our dinner. For dessert she made a rhubarb and cream pie. It was so yummy and there was none left between the 7 of us.

We brought Ethan(youngest grandson) back here to spend the night and enjoy the day with us tomorrow.

Now onto my card for today. I made this one for a friend of mine who wanted to give it to her hubby for Father's Day. I was looking though my stamps and saw this Waltzingmouse "man of the hour" set. It has some really great sentiments. When I saw this one my creative thoughts started flowing and I came up with the idea for this card.

I pulled out my PaperTrey Ink holiday home stamp set and dies for the houses. I stamped them in red, choc chip and old olive.  The rolling hills is a die also from PaperTrey Ink. My MFT dies cut the sun, clouds and arrow. Stamped my sentiment in choc chip ink.

And that is my card for today. So until next time.......God bless.

~Sweet~

Happy Sunday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Enough talk about the cold weather. It's here to stay awhile. Well, for several more months anyway.

Today, I am house bound because a cold came on yesterday. I woke up feeling achy, sore throat and stuffy nose. I decided not to go to service today. Don't really like missing because it sets me up for the week.

Rest is the way to get rid of it fast and that's exactly what I did today. My hubby isn't feeling well either and having us both down at the same time isn't good. We both tend to get a bit cranky when we are sick (lol)!!

So anyway onto my card for today. This one I made for the SCS color challenge #462.  Karen was our hostess and she chose wild wasabi, blushing bride, and primrose petals.
She also wanted us to use a button with a pearl or rhinestone center. I tried using a button on my card , but I couldn’t get it to fit with this image.

My layout for this card is the MojoMonday329 sketch.

My background  was created by using stamps from the Waltzingmouse set “candy jar Christmas fillers”. I stamped in primrose petals and wild wasabi. I was really happy with how it turned out. The images were so perfect for the PI girl I used.

The MFT PI image is “ lollypop girl”. This was a gift to me from my awesome friend and teammate Peggy. She knows this card is going right to my granddaughter sweet Phoenix Daisy.

I paper pieced her dress and colored the image with prismacolor pencils and gamsol. Fussy cut and layered on an MFT “dizzy doily” die cut in primrose petals.

I also added a wild wasabi circle and I used the Cuttlebug “seeing spots” embossing folder. I used this same embossing folder on the middle rectangle panel as well. Layered over that is some blushing bride ribbon.

I cut an arrow with another MFT die and used part of the sentiment from the same MFT “lollypop girl” set.

Well, that's my card for today. It's time to end this post because soon I will be watching the next episode of Downton Abbey. So until next time.........

I am also entering:

Key to my Heart

Happy Tuesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Roll out those lazy, hazy crazy days of summer- are the lyrics to an old song. We picked our first tomatoes this week. A small harvest of four but oh so delicious and many more to come.

Our flower gradens are blooming profusely as well. The stargazer lilies and the gladiolas have just opened. I love cutting the flowers and bringing them inside to enjoy.

I like giving them away to neighbors and other friends to enjoy as well. the more you cut the more will bloom. So if you have a garden don't let the flowers die on the vine cut and bring them inside.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the featured stamper #336 challenge on Splitcoaststampers. Jeanne was this week's honoree. The idea is to look thru her gallery and pick one of her cards to re-create. I chose this card to makeover in my style.

I kept the same layout but with changes. My designer paper is from Stampin-Up's "sycamore street" collection. My card colors are sahara sand, tangerine tango and island indigo.

I used the Cheery Lynn Designs doily die but cut mine in sahara sand. I used the Waltzingmouse vintage labels 4 stamp set and then cut with the Spellbinders labels 4 die.

My sentiment is from the PTI set "lock and key". I used the die from this same set to cut my key. I finished my card with an island indigo bow and brad center.

Well that's it for me for today. So until next time......God bless.

The Greatest Gift

Happy Tuesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Spring is here I am so happy to say.
Our spring flowers are in bloom in our garden and the robin who builds a nest under our deck has returned. She built a nest and laid 3 beautiful blue eggs in it.
I took this photo of the nest from above and between the slats on our deck.

birds nest under my deck

The space between the wood slats is just 3/4" of an inch so I put my camera on the opening and snapped away. I was so surprised that it turned out so well. The mama bird was perched on a tree not to far away watching me.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for this week’s color challenge #423 on Splitcoaststampers.  Becky is our hostess and she chose not quite navy, Baja breeze and river rock. Our option this week is to use plaid or stripes. I used both with my designer paper choices.

I thought these colors would make a great masculine card so that was my starting point.
My sentiment from the new Waltzingmouse “man of the hour" set. I love all of the masculine sentiments in this set.
I stamped in not quite navy on river rock cardstock. I stamped and popped up the word “God” for added dimension. Cut with the Spellbinders labels 4 die. The button is a Stampin-Up sizzlits die.

My layout is an old MojoMonday sketch #250.

The background baja breeze designer paper is from the Stampin-Up collection “Parisian Breeze”.

The next panel is using not quite navy designer paper from the Stampin-Up collection nautical expedition”. I cut the pennant flags with the Verve “pennant trim” die.

My vertical panel is cut in not quite navy cardstock and I used the Stampin-Up square lattice embossing folder. I cut a flag with an MFT flag stax die in baja breeze.

Well that's it for me for today so until next time..........God bless.

I am also entering:
