Knight in Shining Armor

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It was a special day for hubby and me. Our grandson Ethan graduated from high school today. I was so proud of him as I watched him marching in the processional. And, it was very emotional as well. Just one of the many milestones this young man will see in his lifetime.

He had an amazing score on his SAT exam (1470) and that put him in the top 3% of the nation. He will be attending college in the fall as a civil engineering major. We are excited to see this new chapter of his life unfold.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for the color challenge #736 on Splitcoaststampers. Stef was our hostess and she chose balmy blue, coastal cabana and tranquil tide for her color trio.

I thought these colors would make for a great masculine card. So, I decided to jump start some Father's Day cards.

I used the new Knight die from CottageCutz to create my card. His armor and spear are cut from smoky slate and basic gray (neutrals) cardstocks. His shield, helmet decoration and the flag on the spear are cut in coastal cabana cardstocks.

My card layout is using the Mojo514 sketch.
The background & rectangle panel designer paper is from the Stampin'-Up "tranquil textures" collection. To finish off my card, I scattered a few coastal cabana enamel dots.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

Frog Prince

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this Memorial Day Holiday 2019.

It is such a beautiful, sunny and warm day here. So perfect for the start of the summer season. That's usually the billing that this holiday gets.

There was a parade in our community to honor veterans today. And, last night there was a fitting tribute to veterans on the PBS channel. It was so moving.  I want to take this opportunity to honor all my family and friends who have served in the United States military. It's because of your service and bravery we have the freedoms that we do.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for a weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog and also for the sketch challenge #748 on Splitcoaststampers.

Today, I am featuring the Frog Prince die. I got my inspiration from the book of the same name that my 8 year old granddaughter just read. She likes it when I send her a card that is similar to the book that she just read. She saves them all. So this one will make her laugh. Let's get started with the details on how I created the card.

I liked this week's sketch #748 from Splitcoaststampers. I knew the slightly off center panel would work for my main frog image and also allow my designer paper to be seen.
I cut my frog prince in Stampin'-Up granny apple green cardstock and layered him on a white background. I sponged some clouds and a little green slope and attached him with dimensional adhesive.

The 3 little frogs are from the Garden Gnomes 1 stamp & die combo. I colored them with Stampin'-Up Blends alcohol markers and used the die to cut them out.

I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock and used a corner rounder on the corners. For the layering panel I used the 2nd largest of the stitched rounded rectangle die. The image panel is also attached with double sided tape. I moved it a little more to the left to accommodate the other frog images.
The little frogs are attached with dimensional adhesive. I tuned one on his head just to make him a little silly.
To finish off my card I attached the sentiment with double sided tape. Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time......God bless.

card details:
Stamps: leap frog (SUI), garden gnomes 1 (CottageCutz)
Paper: lovely lipstick, granny apple green, gorgeous grape, whisper white, choc chip(stampin'-Up), dsp (Imaginations)

Princess Birthday

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this Memorial Day weekend 2019.

It's another sunny and warm day here in Pittsburgh. Such a perfect start to the summer season. We don't have any particular plans for the weekend because I will be getting my Preschool projects ready for next week.

We have 3 weeks of summer camp once our regular school year ends each with a different theme. This coming week it's Lego week. I found plenty of ideas on Pinterest and now I have to bring them to life. It will be a fun week for the kids.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog.

Today, I am featuring the new Fairytale Castle + Little Princess & Roses dies to create a birthday card for a little girl. The princess theme is so popular with little girls, and I have plenty of friends with little girls and friends with granddaughters. I used a inlay technique for this card. So let's get started with some details on how I created it.

I selected some patterned paper that had a cloud like background. I used a white card base to keep it neutral since its going to a little girl. Used a 3 3/8" circle die to cut the circle in my designer paper.
I built my castle on the die cut circle. Used the colors on the packaging because they were perfect for this card.
Stamped the birthday sentiment in grape ink. I knew I was going to angle the Princess sentiment so the card corner was the best spot.
I decided at this point to start some card assembly. I used a double layer of mounting tape on the back of the image panel. I wanted it to be raised up enough so the castle image would sit flat against the card base.

I cut the Princess phrase in pink cardstock using the Little Princess & Roses die. I cut 2 phrases to make it stand out more on the designer paper.
I adhered this to image panel with Ranger multi matte medium. I also used the crown that is part of the Princess die. The Princess wand is from the Once Upon a Time Die.
Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time......God bless.

A Rose For You

Hello Blogger Friends. Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today with The Charmed Life Blog.

It's Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer. The weather today is sunny and warm so it's starting off on a good note. We don't have any plans for a cookout.

I will be busy getting my projects ready for our 2nd week of summer camp at Preschool. It's Lego week and I have come up with some cute ideas to keep the kids busy for 3 hours. But it will involve a lot of prep work so my weekend will be busy.

For my card for today, I am featuring one that I made for the color challenge #735 on Splitcoaststampers. Karen was the hostess and she chose lovely lipstick, mint macaron and vanilla for her color trio. Optional was to add a rose to our card.
lovely lipstick, very vanilla, mint macaron
I am using a new to me set from Altenew. The beautiful rose image is part of the "just for you" stamp set. The set is multi-layer stamping. I stamped off using lovely lipstick ink to get a variant. The leaves are stamped in mint macaron and again I stamped off to get the color variant.

My background is stenciled with the Altenew halftone stencil in mint macaron ink. I stamped the just for sentiment and wet embossed. The "You" word is part of this set and I used lovely lipstick cardstock.

To finish off my card. I scattered a few mint macaron enamel dots. And, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

card details:

Make A Wish

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.
It's been 2 weeks since I have posted on my Blog and with good reason.  We were finishing up regular Preschool and the last 2 weeks were really busy. Then I was preparing for the 2 weeks of Preschool summer camp that I am a part of.

This first week was arts & crafts. So I needed 3 projects for the kids each day. Now I am preparing for next week which is Lego week. I have some fun ideas for the kids. Then it will be off for the rest of the summer. A little break will be good and allow me to catch up on some organizing that I want to do.

So that's my story now let's move onto my card for today. This one I made for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the new Sweet Unicorns and Fairytale Birthday dies to create a shaker card for a little girl. Shaker cards are fairly easy to make and give the wow factor to a card.

Step 1: I started by cutting my circle on a piece of white cardstock measuring 3 3/4" x 5". Attached a window sheet that measured 4" x 3 1/2". Used foam tape and ran it around my circle opening. Used dimensional adhesive to make sure the card is the same height all the way around. I used my powder tool on the inside of the strip to cut down on the stickiness. That way the sequins won't cling to it.

Step 2: I cut my make a wish words in Stampin'-Up gorgeous grape cardstock and secured it with Ranger multi-matte medium to a piece of highland heather cardstock. This panel measured 3 3/4" x 5". I wanted some color in the shaker background.

Added the sequins to the inside of the circle. I used a little bit more than I thought I might need because I wanted the 4 year old recipient to be able to shake it. Placed the sentiment panel on top of the foam tape. Since it is the same size as the shaker panel I lined it up at the top first.

Step 3: I added a layer of gorgeous grape card stock to this panel The layering panel measures 4" x 5 1/4".

To finish off my card, I added the unicorn images

I scattered some pink enamel dots and attached panel to the pink card base. The card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time......God bless.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this Sunday in May. Happy Mother's Day to all.

I spent the day with my son and daughter-in-law. We started our day off by joining in with the Susan Komen 5K walk. This is the 4th year we have done the Mother's Day walk. After the walk we went to brunch at the Park Bruges restaurant in Pittsburgh. Also something we have done the past 4 years. Delicious food and a great family time.

I picked up a beautiful pink geranium hanging basket for my daughter-in-law. She loves flowers and this one is forgiving if she doesn't water it regularly.

This is my sample for CC737. Barbara is our hostess and she chose peek-a-boo peach, old olive and calypso coral for her color trio.
For my card I used the contents of the April 2019 Stampin'-Up Paper Pumpkin kit. The cards in the kit are notecard size but by adding a basic gray (neutral) cardstock base I changed it to an A2 size. This month's kit is so beautiful, and I have seen many card samples. This one caught my eye, and I used it for my inspiration.

The kit also contains a stamp set with these beautiful rose images. I stamped the rose image in calypso coral ink directly on the printed card base. I used my MISTI and stamped 2x to get a good image. The leaves are also part of the stamp set and I stamped those in old olive ink.

Added some calypso coral ribbon and a bow and then layered the image panel on calypso coral cardstock. The die cut label came in the kit and I stamped my Mother's Day greeting in old olive ink. To finish off my card I scattered a couple of peek-a-boo peach enamel dots and then a single calypso coral enamel dot.

Well that's it for me for this post so until next time......God bless.

Mother's Day Peonies

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's Mother Day weekend. We are taking my Mother-in law to dinner tonight at one of her favorite restaurants. It will be a good family time and Mom will love all of us being together. My hubby picked her up a couple of hanging flower baskets. He delivered those to her yesterday.

I have lots to do before we go out later so let's move on with some details on this card.

I created this one for my daughter-in-law using the Altenew peony bouquet stamp set. It's a color layering stamp set and the card took me awhile to make. My daughter-in-law will appreciate the detail in the card.

crushed curry, granny apple green, melon mambo
This is also a sample I created for the color challenge #738 on Splitcoaststampers. Stef was our hostess and she chose crushed curry, granny apple green and melon mambo for her color trio. It’s a color layering set and I did generational stamping for the flowers and leaves.

I stamped the leaf outline in basic gray ink and then stamped off once with the granny apple green.

The Mother's Day sentiment is from the Stampin Up April Paper Pumpkin Kit. I added a few granny apple green glitter enamel dots to complete my card.

That's my card for today so until next time...…..God bless.
