Thanksgiving (02)

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's Thanksgiving week here in the US. It's such a wonderful holiday where we have the opportunity to reflect on what we are thankful for in the past year. Also, it's a great family time.

I made a few more Thanksgiving cards than I have in past years. I had an older Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin' Up that I wanted to use up. I posted these cards yesterday.

For my first card I used an acetate sheet with a gold design for the background. Layered that on an old olive card base.  The angled embossed panel is a box that was included in the kit. I just cut it apart to use as a background for the leaf images. The large leaf was included in the kit, and I stamped the leaf design on it. The stamp set comes with the kit. Stamped & added the tag and some sequins to finish off this card.
This next card is the same design with a few changes. I didn't stamp the large leaf and used a different acetate pattern for the background. The angled embossed panel on this one is a small card base from the kit. I cut it to use as the background for the leaf images. I sponged the 3 leaves with distress inks on this one.

This last card is using a gold patterned acetate sheet over a cajun craze card base. I cut apart a small envelope that came in the kit and used a die to cut the circle. Stamped the sentiment and added some gold leaves that come in the kit. Sponged the green leaves with distress ink, added the cajun craze baker's twine (also from kit) and a few sequins to complete this card.
Well that's it for this post. I have a few more thanksgiving cards I will post tomorrow. So until next time......God bless.

Thanksgiving Cards

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this Sunday in November.

It's Thanksgiving week here in the US and one of my favorite holidays. I usually have the family here at my house for dinner but this year we are going to my sister-in-law's home. My hubby's Mom is 92 and she doesn't want to leave the house anymore. She lives with my sister-in-law.

I am disappointed not cooking but I realize that we may not have many more years with Mom. So I will make several sides and go there and enjoy the day!

Now onto my cards for today. These are 3 of the designs I made this year for my Thanksgiving cards. I used the Stampin' Up "Layered Leaves"Paper Pumpkin Kit from 2017 + a few other supplies to create the cards. I thought it was way passed time to use all of the contents of the kit (LOL)!

This first card has a card base of cajun craze cardstock and a gold foil acetate. All from Stampin' - Up. The green leaves and gold center leaf, baker's twine and the embossed panel are all from the kit. The embossed panel was a pillow box that I cut apart. I cut a small oval from the leftover box piece and used that for my sentiment. The kit comes with a stamp set.
This second card also has a base of cajun craze cardstock and a gold foil acetate. All from Stampin' - Up. The leaves, bakers twine and the embossed panel are all from the kit. The sentiment is from the Stampin' - Up "Gather Together" stamp set. I used a paper sander on the embossed panel to highlight the embossing.

This next card I used acetate with a white pattern and layered that over a brushed gold panel. The card base is the cajun craze cardstock.

Well, that's it for me for this post. I have some other designs using this same Kit that I will post tomorrow. So until next time.......God bless.

I am also entering:

4.  Creative Fingers has an anything goes challenge.

Christmas Bauble

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's Mid-term election day here in the U.S. I just returned from my polling location, and it was extremely busy. I will be back there at 5:00 to work the outside of the polls as a greeter. I have done this once before and it's nice greeting people, answering questions and passing out literature for candidates. I wanted to get a Blog post done before I leave for the polls.

My card for today is another Christmas card. This one was done with a Sweet Poppy stencil. It's their Christmas Snowflake Flourish Bauble Stencil. I am happy with how this one turned out and definitely want to make more in different colors. I used Bristol smooth cardstock to do the stenciling.

I used the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #913. We were to use rich razzleberry, soft succulent and evening evergreen. Optional was to make it nature. I think I have a nature scene here.

The stamped image I used inside the bauble is from Nellie Snellen. It's named the "cosily snowy cottage".

Well, that's it for me for this post. So, until next time.......God bless.

Happy HoHoHo Screen Divider Card

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog on a Monday in November.

Hope your weekend was a good one. We went to Troy, NY to visit our grandson. He goes to an Engineering school there. It was a wonderful visit with him. We got to see the campus, take him to lunch, and also spend time with our son as well as our grandson. My daughter-in-law was down with a bad cold so she couldn't make the trip with us. That was disappointing.

It was an 8-hour drive from Pittsburgh, but we had great weather going and coming home. And the time spent with our son in the car was priceless. Nothing like family time.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #914 on Splitcoaststampers. We were to use granny apple green, melon mambo and highland heather for our color trio. Optional was to make it sparkle. I used white glitter paper for the snowbanks and the hat brims. Although it didn't photo so sparkly.
granny apple green, melon mambo, highland heather

I thought I would try these non-traditional colors for a Christmas card. My funfold design is called a screen divider card. There is a tutorial here on SCS. Check it out here.

I embossed the background panels with the SU "softly falling" embossing folder. On the first 3 panels I am featuring new dies from CottageCutz. I also used the "happy ho ho ho die" on these panels. The last panel I used for my stamped greeting.

For Santa's hat and glove, I used merry merlot- one of our neutrals. I also had to give my snowmen a carrot nose. I am sending this card at Christmas to my precious great niece who loves to get cards in the mail from me. She even hangs them up in her bedroom. So sweet!

Well, that's it for me for this post. So, until next time.......God bless.

card details:
Stamps: Merry Little Christmas (Great Impressions Stamps)
Paper: granny apple green, melon mambo, highland heather, smokey slate, baked brown sugar, soft suede, white, merry merlot, gold, black (Stampin' Up), white glitter paper (Recollections)

Accessories: happy hohoho, snowman w/tree, happy reindeer & snowman, christmas tree peekers dies (CottageCutz), melon mambo enamel dots, softly falling ef, decorative label punch (Stampin' Up),

Camping Snowman

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Can you believe I am posting 3 days in a row? My intent is always to post at least 4x a week but then life gets in the way, and it doesn't happen (lol). But now that my hubby's garden is done for the year I have a bit more time to myself. So hopefully I will be on here with my card creations.

Today, I am featuring the new Camping Snowman w/Trailer and the Tis The Season dies. I have friends who have a camping trailer, and this card would be perfect for them. I loved the trailer colors on the die packaging, but their trailer is light & dark gray. Since I was creating this card for them, I thought I should stick with those colors. Although I really like creating Christmas cards in non-traditional colors. That will be for another day.

Card Details:
I started by cutting the trailer, snowman and mailbox in different colors of cardstock. The light that are strung across the trailer I colored with Copic markers.
Then as I was deciding on how to create the background panel for my images, I remembered this designer paper with a winter snow scene. That made it really easy. The paper is so pretty I didn't want to cut a lot of it away, so I made my card a 5 3/4" square. The paper is from the Stampin' Up "feels like frost" collection.

White card base: 5 3/4" square
Designer Paper Layer: 5 3/4" square
Next, I cut the Tis the Season sentiment. I thought red would be a standout, but it just didn't look right so I decided on a navy blue to compliment the background. I think it works nicely.
Now that my card elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly.

I attached the designer paper to the card base with double sided tape first. I thought this would make it easier to attach the images.
For the images I used dimensional adhesive to lift them off the background slightly.
To finish off the card I secured the "tis the season" sentiment with clear drying glue. There are snowflakes with this die, so I used them as embellishments on the card.
That's it for me for this post so until next time......God bless.

dies I used to create card:

Give Thanks

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's leaf falling time at our house. We have 2 huge pin oak trees in our front yard and plenty of leaves. My hubby has raked them up 4x times already. Well, he actually uses a blower and gathers them into piles to pick up.

This particular oak drops half of the leaves in the Fall and the other half in the Spring.  We haven't' reached the halfway point yet. The neighbors will be glad when this is over because they get a lot of our leaves as well. Fortunately, we have great neighbors, and they just get their leaf blowers out and pick up what falls in their yards.

Speaking of leaves that is what my card is all about today. I made this one for Thanksgiving. I am behind on Thanksgiving cards and need to get a move on them.

I used the colors from the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #919. We were to use cajun craze, mossy meadow and mango melody for our color trio. Optional was to add gold.
cajun craze, mossy meadow, mango melody
I thought these colors would work well for a Thanksgiving card. I cut my leaves with mango melody cardstock and then sponged with mango melody and cajun craze inks. I also added some mossy meadow greenery. The leaf die is from CottageCutz

The background designer paper is from the Stampin' Up "come to gather" collection. My sentiment is using the Autumn Greetings stamp set also from Stampin' Up.

For the gold option I used sequins and 2 gold strips to frame the image panel. Well, that's it for me for this post. So, until next time......God bless.

card details:
Stamps: autumn greetings (Stampin'-Up)
Paper: cajun craze, mango melody, mossy meadow, brushed gold, come to gather dsp (Stampin' Up)

Joy Wreath

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this first day of November.

I can't believe I am saying November already. We are coming into my favorite holidays. First Thanksgiving and then Christmas.

I usually have a big crowd at my home for Thanksgiving but this year things are a bit different. My 93-year-old Mother-in-law doesn't want to leave the house anymore. So, my sister-in-law will be having dinner there. Mom lives with her. My son and daughter-in-law are with her family this year. We share holidays. So, I am not sure what we will be doing.

Now onto my card for today. this one I created for CC900 on Splitcoaststampers. I was one of the hostesses and for my color trio I chose cherry cobbler, shaded spruce and gold. Optional was to make it a Christmas card. I love red & green for traditional Christmas cards.

For my card I used the CottageCutz Joy Snowman die to create my Christmas card. It's retired and out of stock right now. I had the die in my collection from 2020 so not sure if it will come back into stock. I used the CottageCutz "wide rectangle frame" die to frame the wreath. This one is also retired and out of stock.

My background designer paper is from the Stampin'-Up "wrapped in plaid" collection.I also used designer paper on the wreath holly leaves to get a different color gradient. This paper is from the Stampin' Up "pretty prints" collection.

To complete my card, I scattered a few gold sequins.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time.......God bless.

Paper: shaded spruce, cherry cobbler, wrapped in plaid dsp, pretty prints dsp (stampin' Up)
