~Hugs From Afar~

Hello Blogger Friends! thanks for taking the time to visit with the Charmed Life Blog.

Today was my day at Preschool. We are working on the letter "L" so I took my juicer and we made lemonade. The kids loved being able to actually help make it. I cut the lemons in wedges and each child got to put a wedge in the hopper and then watch the juice come out of the chute.

They were really interested in the whole process. After we finished the juicing, I added water and sugar and each child was able to taste it. They all came back for 2nd and 3rd helpings. I have never made fresh lemonade and it really is quite delicious. So this day was a success.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #577 on Splitcoaststampers. Barbara was our hostess and she chose pink pirouette, pool party and mossy meadow for her color palette. Optional was to use animals on our card.

I decided to use these super cute animal dies from CottageCutz and decided to use them for my card today. I didn’t want to make a baby card so I decided to go with a “thinking of you” type card.

My background designer paper is from the Stampin’-Up “sweet li’l thing” collection. I used a MFT stitched circle die to cut a circle for added interest on my card.
Cut my baby elephant die in pool party and the baby lion die (temporarily sold out) in pink pirouette and used some designer paper for his mane. I lightly sponged around the edges for depth.

My “sending” word is a die from Simon Says Stamp” and I cut in mossy meadow. My sentiment banner is a die from Impression Obsession. The sentiment is from Verve and it’s stamped in mossy meadow ink. I added a pink heart and some twine to complete my card.

If you have any CottageCutz dies, we are having a challenge on the Scrapping Cottage Blog. There are prizes to be won. Click here for more info. That's it for me for today. So until next time.......God Bless.

~Hugs From Afar~

Hello Blogger friends and thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It's a beautiful Saturday here in Pittsburgh. The sun is already shining and we are supposed to have temperatures around 60°. Definitely a spring like day and one to be enjoyed in the middle of winter.

Our grandson Ethan spent the night and he and my hubby went to some local high school basketball games. It's playoff time and this is something they have done for several years now. And this afternoon they will be back in the gym watching some more games. So that gives me a free afternoon.

I want to go to our local big box store to check out material for the back splash for our kitchen. We are at the point now in the remodel to begin picking our floor, backsplash and countertop.
I hope this stage doesn't get a bit overwhelming with all the options we will have. I am trying to narrow down choices so my hubby and I can make a decision together. Anyway,  I will keep you updated on my progress here.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #570 on Splitcoaststampers. Peggy is our hostess and she chose cherry cobbler, mossy meadow and hello honey for her color trio.

Love this color combo and I thought flowers when I was planning my card. I looked through my Stampin'-Up designer paper collections and found the "Farmer's Market" and "English Garden" collections with this week's colors. Score!!!

The pot of flowers is cut with dies from MFT. I added the "sending" word cut in cherry cobbler. This is a die from Simon Says Stamp. The sentiment is from Verve. It was a gift for an order I placed.

On the embossed panel, I used the Stampin'-Up "boho chic" folder. Completed my card by adding some very vanilla grosgrain ribbon and then some hello honey thick bakers twine.

This card is going off to my BFF, Elaine who is battling breast cancer. She just completed her 3rd chemo treatment and this one was a bit rough. Pray for her! I try to keep cards headed her way for a little bit of cheer during these treatments.

Well, that's it for me for today. Time to get my day started. So until next time......God bless.

HYCCT1530Survivor ~A cup of cheer~

Hello Blogger friends and a happy Saturday to you all. Hope your day went well and that you had some relaxing time before the big holiday rush next week.

I went to the market today to  pick up my turkey. I get such a big one that it needs several days to thaw. Don't know why I didn't make a list with me so I could get everything I need for my meal.

I was on my way home from my son's home and thought I should get the turkey. I tried to remember off the top of my head what I need for all the dishes I make. But, of course I didn't remember everything so another trip to the market is necessary. That will have to be done early in the week because traffic will get crazy after Tuesday.

Today, I finally addressed the Thanksgiving cards I will be mailing. They are all local so the cards will get there by Tuesday. A few of them I hand deliver along with a little gift. Now it's onto my Christmas cards. I am so far behind on those so some serious mass producing is in order.

Now onto my card for today. This is another I made for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. Ceal was our hostess for this 30th challenge and she  wants us to make a card of encouragement letting them know it's going to be okay.

I used the teacup stack die from Poppy Stamps and backed the cups with pink pirouette, rose red, mint macaron card stocks from Stampin'-Up.

The sending word is a die from Simon Says Stamp, and I cut it in rose red card stock. My sentiment is from the happy thoughts stamp set- an exclusive set from the Paper Pumpkin Kit June 2015.

The background paper is from the Stampin'-Up - "pretty petals" collection. And I used the layout from the week 5 Viva la Verve sketch.

This card is going off to my bff in Virginia who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I have been sending her a card weekly with a note of encouragement. Her name is Elaine if you want to pray for her.

And with that, my post for today is coming to an end. So until next time.......God bless.

HYCCT1508 ~Amazingly Amazing~

Hello Blogger Friends and happy Friday to you. It's the start of the weekend and we are celebrating our anniversary tomorrow.

We had plans to go to an area East of Pittsburgh in the Laurel Highlands on the Youghiogheny River. There is a beautiful bike path along the river and some great restaurants. But, hubby is sick with a cold and today the rain came.

We are going to try for tomorrow but weather and hubby are the big factors. There is always next weekend if it doesn't work out this Saturday.  I am not real hung up on exact dates for celebrating.

Now onto my card for today. This is another I made for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. Ann is the hostess for challenge 8, and she wants us to strengthen that one piece of designer paper by adding embellishments, color, paper piecing, etc.

For my card I chose this designer paper from the Stampin'-Up "watercolor wonder" collection. The paper is so beautiful that it was best not to cover it up with layers. I added some ribbon and a dahlia for my bow center.

I die-cut my "You" word in island indigo card stock and stamped the sentiment from the Stampin'-Up "painted petals" set. The die is from Simon Says Stamp. This was an easy challenge to complete.

Well, blogger friends it's time to bring this post to a close. So until next time......God bless.

~Sending You Sunshine~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I have just returned from my trip to San Francisco. Now I just have to get my body adjusted to East Coast time again.

I was there taking care of my granddaughter while her parents went away for a little r & r. We had a wonderful time together and that little ball of energy just wore me out. But we always make memories together that will be shared over and over again.

She loves to draw and color so I put together a box of stuff for her that included stamps, ink, stickers and cardstock. Cleaned out some of my stash for her and she loved it. I bought some kids washable ink for her. She stamped a few cards while we there. She even colored the images that she stamped. It will be a fun activity for her and my daughter-in-law.

Now onto my card for today. this one I made for the color challenge #550 on Splitcoaststampers. Vicki was our hostess and she chose marina mist, soft sky and daffodil delight for her color palette. Our option was to make a background sky.

soft sky, marina mist, daffodil delight

I made this as a card of encouragement. You never know when you need one and I don't have any on hand. Little did I know that I would be sending this to my bff as she was just diagnosed with breast cancer. That bit of shocking news came to me just yesterday.

I used this card from one of my Pinterest boards as inspiration to create my card. Love all the card ideas that are pinned there on the site.

My background is sponged with the MFT stencil sunray die. The sun and clouds are also dies from MFT.

My sunshine word is part of the sunshine frame die from Simon Says Stamp. I cut in soft sky and then slightly offset it with marina mist. The "sending you" sentiment is part of a stamp from Great Impressions.

Well that's my card for today. So until next time........God bless.

card details:
Stamps: sending you love - E530 (Great Impressions Stamps)
Paper: whisper white, daffodil delight, marina mist, polka dot parade dsp (Stampin'-Up)

~Sending Wishes~

Hello Blogger Friends!! Long time no post (lol)!!! I have been busy with the beginning of year stuff at our church pre-school. Spent some long days there the past week.

We added a new class as well as built a new room this year. That part was taken care of by some skilled craftsmen. I was organizing our supplies and decorating 2 hallways for the start of school.

I really like how the hallways turned out. I went with a fall theme with cute scarecrows, pumpkins and leaves. This theme will be good through Thanksgiving.

The organization of supplies is still not done. I put everything in plastic containers and labeled the containers. So when we need something we know right where to look. I just have the construction paper to separate by color.

So that's where I have been but I am back creating with my first love of card making. This one was done using the colors from the color challenge #547 on Splitcoststampers.

turquoise, pink pirouette, blackberry bliss
Barbara was the hostess and she chose tempting turquoise, blackberry bliss and pink pirouette. Our option was to make a card with at least 4 layers. That is definitely covered- I have 9 layers counting my ribbon treatment.

I forgot, then remembered too late to send a friend a birthday card in August. She commented on it to my daughter-in-law and said how much she looks forward to getting my cards each year.

Embarrassing!!! So I made this card to send. Then I still didn't send it. What is wrong with me (lol)!! I just received a birthday card from her in the mail today. Double embarrassment now.

I used an older Sweet Sunday Sketch for my card and I cased myself. Original here.

My background designer paper is from the "park lane" collection from Stampin'-Up. On the white embossed panel I used the Stampin'-Up "fancy fan" folder.

My sending word is a die from Simon Says Stamp. The pot of flowers and sequins are dies from MFT.

Completed my card with some ribbon and turquoise decorative trim. The trim frayed when I cut it but I like the look of it. Well, that's my card for today. time to close this post. I have a counter full of tomatoes to prepare for canning.

So until next time.......God bless.

~ Cup of Cheer~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with the Charmed Life Blog.

I sent my son, daughter-in-law and precious granddaughter back home. We had a wonderful visit and I miss them already. The house is so quiet. But, on a happier note, I go out there in October to take care of her while Mom and Dad attend a wedding in Cape Cod.

Phoenix Daisy kept me going from morning until night. We had some special moments together. I took her to the farm one day to pick blueberries. She really liked that. And, now I have some of that delicious fruit in my freezer to be eaten on a cold, wintry day.

Our family reunion was a lot of fun. Phoenix Daisy got to meet some of her cousins and had such fun playing all day and into the night with them. I won the corn hole tournament with one of my brothers as a partner. In my family, that gives you bragging rights until the next reunion (lol)!!!

Now onto my card for today. This is another one I made for the SCS color challenge 540. Peggy was our hostess and she chose crushed curry, smoky slate and tempting turquoise.

For this card I used this week’s MOJO407 sketch for my layout. I needed a card of encouragement for a friend and she likes coffee.

My coffee mug is a die from MFT. I embossed the coffee cozy with a folder from Darice in smoky slate.

My “sending” word is a die from Simon Says Stamp cut in tempting turquoise. The “cup of cheer” sentiment is a stamp set that came in this month’s Stampin’-Up Paper Pumpkin kit.

The background designer paper is from the Stampin’-Up collections- "Flashback and Flowerpot". I used the MFT chevron stripes die to join the 2 panels. Added a couple of die cut hearts to complete the sketch and my card.

Well that's it for me for today. Time to get busy with my household chores. Need to get the house back in order now that my family is gone.

So until next time..........God bless.

~Well Wishes~

Hello blogger Friends!! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Can you believe it's mid-May already??

We have only 2 more pre-school classes then school is out for the summer. That would make a good song title- don't you think or did Alice Cooper already have that idea(lol)!!! Just a bit of humor to start off this Wednesday morning in May.

We are busy preparing for graduation. It will be a fun night. The kids get to go on the stage and sing some songs for their parents. We have 10 kids in our 2 day a week class (3-3/12) and 12 in the 3 day a week class (3 1/2-4 1/2).

Next year starts our 3rd year in existence, and we are adding a 3rd class for the 4 1/2 -5 year olds. That one will be a pre-kindergarten class and run 5 days a week. The parents love the school and have spread it by word of mouth. Our classes are almost full for next year.

Even though we meet in our church building and are a ministry of our church, the kids that attend are not church members. I like that aspect. We have families that started with us last year and next year will be their 3rd year with us.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #530 on Splitcoaststampers. I was the hostess and my color palette was a send-off for the retiring Stampin'-Up in-colors. You can still join in on the fun over there.

I chose coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe, baked brown sugar, pistachio pudding and strawberry slush. You have the option of using just 2 colors or all 5 of them. The optional element this week is to use bakers twine or sequins in the in-colors.

coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe, baked brown sugar, pistachio pudding, strawberry slush

My layout is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch #268. I love tilted panels so this layout was perfect for me. The background and tilted panels have designer paper from the Stampin'-Up "afternoon picnic" collection. The other tilted panel is embossed with the Stampin-Up "fancy fan" embossing folder.

The "Sending" word is a new die that I just purchased from Simon Says Stamp. The well wishes sentiment is from the MFT set "better get better". I am sending this card off to my niece who is in treatment for breast cancer.

My die cut flowers and pot are from the MFT collection "spring garden". I also die cut the sequins from an MFT die. I finished the card with very vanilla ribbon and cotton perle twine.

Well that's it for me for today. Time to get ready to go to the gym and then back here for a cleaning day. I am having some of my stamping friends over on Saturday and need to get ready for it.

So until next time........God bless.

~Easter Blessings~

Hello Blogger Friends!!! Happy Easter to all of you. Hope your day is a blessed one. We are starting off the day with a church service.

It will be a full congregation today so I have to get there a bit early to get a seat. No walking in as service starts for me today. (lol)!!

Then our family celebration will be with my in-laws. Our son and daughter-in-law are with her family this year. So the dinner table will be a bit less full. I invited my next door neighbors who are driving home from Philadelphia today. That way a nice warm meal will be waiting for them.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made as my last Easter card of the season. I used the layout from the SCS sketch challenge #534. I added a few more layers to my card but still kept to the basic sketch design.

scs534

I chose my designer paper first and that determined my card colors. The designer paper is from the Stampin-Up "all abloom" collection.

The Easter word is cut with an Impression Obsession die. The flower is the Pavilia bloom outline die from Memory Box.

The curved bottom of the designer paper is cut with the stitched hillside die from Lawn Fawn and the blessings word is a die from Simon Says Stamp.

Well that's it for me for today. So until next time........God bless.

Card Details:
Paper: strawberry slush, mossy meadow, blushing bride, all abloom dsp (Stampin-Up)

Christmas Blessings

Hello Blogger Friends!! I cant believe it's been a week since I posted on my blog. I was out in San Francisco for my precious granddaughters 4th birthday. She was so excited to have her Grandma there for the party.

This is a picture of her from pre-school. They were having a cookie baking day. I just love her chefs hat.

I am back home now and in last minute crunch mode to finish up the things I need to get done before Saturday. They are coming here for Christmas.

I still have Christmas shopping to finish as well as gift wrapping and food shopping to get done. The malls will be crazy with people and traffic but I have to go there today to finish up.

I haven't completely planned my Christmas menu as yet. I always have these elaborate meals and I am in the kitchen most of the day. My daughter-in-law said I should keep it simple this year. I am leaning towards that end but don't know to do to make that happen.

So let's get to my card for today. This is another of my Christmas cards that I sent out. I tried to keep my cards flat this year so extra postage wouldn't be required. Instead of real ribbon I opted for a faux look with a die from MFT.

My background designer paper is the "all is calm" collection from Stampin-Up. I wasn't going to buy any new designer paper this year but I couldn't pass this up. It is so pretty and I really liked all the different patterns in the collection.

On the tilted panel,  I used the snowflake stamp that came in the November paper Pumpkin kit. I stamped in lost lagoon ink. The Christmas word is a die from Simon Says Stamp.

To finish up my card, I added a snowflake with a rhinestone center. The snowflake was also from the November Paper Pumpkin kit.

Well, blogger friends that's it for me for today. Time to tackle the mall and finish the shopping. So until next time.........God bless.

card details:
Stamps: simply snowflakes (Stampin-Up)
Ink: lost lagoon
Paper: lost lagoon, soft sky, ww, all is calm dsp
Accessories: MFT Blueprints 3 die, Spellbinders Matting Basics A & B, Simon Says Stamp Christmas Blessings die

Card Concept Challenge #23

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. We are getting ready for some cold temps starting today and possibly snow on the ground this weekend. That is perfect weather to stay inside and get crafty.

It's time for another Card Concept Challenge. This time around we are giving you a chance to add to your Christmas card stash. Or to start if you are behind like me (lol)!!

Here is an inspiration photo to help in creating your card.

As part of the Wild Card Team I was able to select the style I wanted to create my card. This one I am calling classy and elegant. I picked up on the kraft, red and snowflake elements to create my card.

For my background I used a snowflake swirl embossing folder. I sponged some white ink over the embossing for a softer look. My snowflake was stamped in a kraft ink on white card stock. I added some red dots to highlight it a bit.

To finish up my card, I die cut the "Christmas Blessings" words in red cardstock. This will be an easy one to make 10 more.

Hope you can play along with our fun Card Concept Challenge this time. The rules are fairly simple.

You have different card styles to choose from to help you create your card. The styles are defined here,  There are lots of samples from the rest of the Design Team, and you have the inspiration photo. All that's needed is your card!!

Until next time........God bless.

Card Concept Challenge #22

Hello Blogger Friends!!! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since our last Card Concept challenge. October is ready to bite the dust and we will be saying hello to November in a few days.

This time around on Card Concept we have a theme for you to try. We are titling it "thank-fall". Here is an inspiration photo to help in creating your card.

As part of the Wild Card Team I was able to select the style I wanted to create my card. I am calling this one a freestyle collage. I picked up on the fall elements to create my card. Since I didn't have a wheelbarrow image or die, I focused on the pumpkins, cornstalk, leaves and background.

For my background, I used the Stampin-Up "Hardwood" stamp. It gave my card the rustic look I was after. From there, I used dies to cut the cornstalk, pumpkins, acorns and leaves. To color my leaves I used some distress inks.

The "Thanksgiving" word is part of the stamp from Stampabilities. I die cut the "blessings" word with a die from Simon Says Stamp. That's my sample for this challenge.

Hope you can play along with our fun Card Concept challenge this time. The rules are fairly simple. You have  different card styles to choose from to help you create. The styles are defined here,  There are lots of samples from the rest of the DT, and you have the inspiration photo. All that's needed is your card!!

Until next time........God bless.

card details:
stamps: thanksgiving blessings (Stampabilities), Hardwood (Stampin-Up)
ink: crumb cake (SU), peeled paint, wild honey, rusty hinge and fired brick (Ranger distress)
Paper: choc chip, crumb cake, crushed curry, ww, pumpkin (STanpin-Up)
accessories: cornstalk die (MFT),  fall dies (Spellbinders), pumpkins (Impression Obsession), Christmas Blessings (Simon Says Stamp)

~Card Concept Oct 1 Challenge~

Hello Blogger Friends!! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit the Charmed Life Blog. Hope you are enjoying this first day of October 2014.
I just saw a reminder on someone's blog that it is 12 weeks to Christmas. Yikes!! I need to get a move on my Christmas cards. Don't want to be caught up in the last minute frenzy again this year (lol)!!

It is time for another challenge over at the Card Concept Blog.  This 2 week period we have a color challenge - my favorite type. Here is a beautiful inspiration photo to help in creating your card.

current challenge theme
My card theme for this challenge is the freestyle collage. I like being on this design team because it takes me out of my card making box. I don't usually make collage style cards but I gave it a good effort.  Another big challenge for me was to use these colors and not make a Halloween card.

My card picks up on the colors, the gingham tablecloth, and also the fall themed items in the photo.

I started my process by stamping my background with the "gingham plaid" stamp from Impression Obsession in black on white cardstock. Then I started my die cutting.

I just bought this new "blessings" die from Simon Says Stamp and I cut the word from tangelo twist cardstock. I also used a couple of Cherry Lynn Designs dies - the lace corner deco and the fanciful flourish dies.

My final die cut is a pumpkin from Cuttlebug-it is embossed as well. I also used the bird image from the Stampin-Up set "nature walk". I had to fussy cut this one.

Then I just started layering all my elements on the card. I also picked up on the lace that was lining the pumpkins in the photo. So I added a piece of May Arts mesh ribbon to one of the corners to complete my card.
