Napping Santa

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog on this Thanksgiving weekend 2019.

Hope you made it through the Thanksgiving celebration and the Black Friday sales. We didn't go out to do any shopping yesterday. But I am going to run to Michael's this morning to pick up some plastic scrapbooking storage cases. They are a good price and you can use a sale coupon to buy them.

I have started using those to store my preschool crafts for the month. That way I will have each month of the school year separated and ready to go for next year.

I am also going to start my Christmas decorating today. Well first all the Fall decorations have to come down. My plan is to get Christmas at least started and then do a bit each day.

We also talked about gifts yesterday when we were visiting with my son. None of us need anything so we discussed scaling back a bit and just do one gift each. I won't do that for my grandsons but maybe it's a good idea for the adults. We never really came to a decision on it so I guess I will talk about it more to my daughter-in-law since she was the one who brought up the subject.

Now onto my card for today. I decided to make an inside Christmas scene and I used this "Santa Napping" die from CottageCutz to create my card. He is tired after a long night of Christmas deliveries (LOL)!! Even his little puppy is exhausted!

For the wallpaper, I used Stampin'-Up cherry cobbler designer paper. The wood floor or carpeting is also designer paper from Stampin'-Up -  the "festive farmhouse" collection. He is napping in his favorite lounge chair.
My sentiment is from an old Stampin'-Up set "wandering words". I stamped it and then put a frame around it to resemble a wall decoration. Scattered a few stars to complete my card.

Well, that's it for me for this post. Until next time...…..God bless.

Card details:
Stamps: wandering words (Stampin'-Up)
Paper: cherry cobbler, whisper white, mossy meadow, soft suede, baked brown sugar, basic black, gold, festive farmhouse dsp (Stampin'-Up), vellum (PaperStudio)
Paper Size: A2

Grateful for Friends

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog on Black Friday 2019.

Yes, it's already the day after Thanksgiving and another holiday in the books. We had a great family day yesterday and my food turned out perfectly. Lots of compliments from the Marsh family and that always makes me feel good. I spend two days spent in my kitchen preparing this meal so having the dishes turn out perfectly and the family raving over them is time well spent.

Today we are going over my son's to enjoy a leftover day with them. They spent yesterday with my daughter-in-laws family. This is a holiday that we share and I am okay with doing it that way.

We didn't go out to do any shopping this morning because I am not sure what anyone wants as yet. But all the hustle and bustle getting ready for Christmas starts now. I am going to start decorating this weekend. My cards are under control for having enough already made. So it's just shopping and wrapping that needs to get started.

Anyway, let's move onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #767 on Splitcoaststampers.  Chris was the hostess and she chose pretty peacock, lovely lipstick and crushed curry for her color trio. Optional was a 4th color pumpkin pie.
pretty peacock, lovely lipstick, crushed curry, pumpkin pie
Well, I thought I would give it a shot at making a Thanksgiving card with these colors. Fortunately, I didn't have to mail this card because it went to my next door neighbor. I will took it over yesterday with a box of chocolates. I have been seeing these Merci chocolates advertised on the Hallmark channel so I went in search of them. Needless to say she likes chocolates.

So back to my card. I had this older Stampin'-Up Paper Pumpkin kit "Layers of Gratitude" and I used elements from it. The accordion card base came in the kit and instead of stamping each panel I used designer paper.

The papers are from the Stampin Up "come to gather" and "perfectly artistic" collections. I also embossed crushed curry cardstock with the Stampin Up Boho Chic embossing folder on 2 of the panels.

The felt thanks letters came in the kit and they work for this week's optional. The first panel is stamped with a sentiment that came as part of the kit. The last panel is stamped with a sentiment from the August Paper pumpkin kit "the gift of fall".

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit The Charmed Life Blog this Thanksgiving Day 2019.

I have a busy day ahead with cooking for our family. I hope your day is a blessed one whatever your plans may be. My menu for today is a roasted turkey & stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, brussel sprouts, corn casserole, cranberries, pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll. Some of it I made yesterday and will just need to be baked today. The turkey I am getting ready to put in my oven this morning.

But, before all the busyness starts I wanted to post a Thanksgiving card. This one I made for the color challenge #762 on Splitcoaststampers. I was the hostess and I chose merry merlot, daffodil delight and Cajun craze. Optional was to make it Fall or Thanksgiving.

For my sample, I turned to the Stampin'-Up "come to gather" designer paper and created a Thanksgiving card. The layout is one that I saw on Ann Schachs blog and I used it for my card.

The stitched leaves are a die from CottageCutz, and I sponged with Cajun craze and daffodil delight inks for some color variation. Used the gorgeous grunge stamp set and stamped some ink scatters on the larger circle.

The card base is daffodil delight, and I sponged the edges with cajun craze and daffodil delight inks to tone the yellow down a bit.

I scattered a few Cajun craze enamel dots and tied a small bow with Cajun craze linen thread to complete my card.

Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

Card Details:

Paper: daffodil delight, early espresso. Merry merlot, daffodil delight, come to gather dsp (Stampin'-Up)
Paper Size: A2
Ink: Cajun craze, daffodil delight

Thankful for Friends

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's the day before Thanksgiving and I am ready to start my preps for the big meal. I try and do as much as I can the day before because tomorrow there will be plenty of work.

We are on break from Preschool until next Tuesday. We had a Thanksgiving meal yesterday with the kids. It was chicken nuggets, applesauce, carrots, muffins and fruit snacks for the meal.  The parents brought everything and several of them cooked, set-up and cleaned up. It was a great day for the kids and even though it wasn't our normal routine they did very well.

So before I get into my day, I thought I would get a Blog post done. This card I made for the Splitcoaststampers color challenge #757. I was the hostess and I chose crushed curry, poppy parade and pumpkin pie for my color trio. Optional was to make a Fall card.

For my card I used the elements from the August  2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin'-Up. The watercolored background paper came as an add-on to the kit. It has shades of merry merlot - a new Stampin'-Up neutral. I added 2 additional layers of crushed curry and poppy parade- to make it a full size card.

I stamped my greeting in merry merlot, used some linen thread and added a few pumpkin sequins to finish off my card.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...…...Happy Thanksgiving and God bless.

Grapevine Wreath

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's Friday and the start of another weekend. The week was a busy one between Preschool, my DT posts and we also had my Mother-in-Law for a couple of days. She lives with my sister-in-law, and we take her a couple of days a month to give them both a break.

Now I need to begin preparing for Thanksgiving. I wanted to get my turkey today but that didn't happen. But, I definitely need to get it tomorrow. I usually get a 23 lb bird and it takes until Thursday to completely thaw. Although I am thinking about dropping down a couple of pounds because I will have less people.

I also haven't gotten my Thanksgiving cards in the mail. I have had them done so I am not sure what the hold-up is? Tomorrow is a post office run for sure. Fortunately the cards are all going local so they will get there in time.

mango melody, rococo rose, pear pizzazz

Let's move onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #759 on Splitcoaststampers. The colors we were to use: mango melody, rococo rose and pear pizzazz. I decided to try and make a fall card with these colors.

I used the Grapevine Wreath die from CottageCutz to create my card. I cut some of the leaves in mango melody and then sponged them with merry merlot (a new Stampin Up neutral) to give them more of a fall look. The other 2 leaves are cut in pear pizzazz and sponged with the same ink to darken them.

I used kraft cardstock (neutral) for the grapevine wreath and sponged that with distress walnut stain. For the acorns, I used baked brown sugar (neutral) and again sponged with distress walnut stain. The background paper is from an older Stampin'-Up collection "wood textures".

To cover the rococo rose color, I cut a bow from that cardstock. I finished off this card by adding a few more leaves and stamped my sentiment.

Well, that's it for me for this post so until next time...….God bless.

Flower Pot House Thanksgiving

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Can you believe that we are already half way through the month of November. Just 2 short weeks until Thanksgiving. It will be dinner at my home and I am looking forward to the day.

This is one of my favorite holidays and I love cooking for it. I keep my main the same each year because it's traditional. Or maybe what I have made a tradition for my family. But everyone loves the food so why mess with a good thing. (LOL)!!

We will also be having a Thanksgiving celebration with our Preschool. Instead of turkey it will be chicken nuggets, carrots & ranch dressing and applesauce- things that 3-5 year olds like to eat. It will be a fun day for them.

I have been making cards for Thanksgiving. I usually send out about 10 of them.  Time to get them into the mail so I am not stressing about them the week of Thanksgiving.

To create my card, I used the Flower Pot House die from CottageCutz. When I saw this die it made me think of my hubby. He is an avid gardener and has flower beds all over our yard in the summer months.

Friends call our house the "flower house". I love to cut them and give bouquets to our friends. So getting a Thanksgiving card from us that depicts a flower pot house would not be out of the ordinary (LOL)!

The die has other flowers, but I used only sunflowers since that represents the fall season. I die cut the flowers in crushed curry cardstock then sponged with real red and rusty hinge inks. I went with a fall color scheme of cajun craze, crushed curry and crumb cake (kraft) for the card.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

card details:
Stamps: many thanks (Dare2BArtzxy), holiday home (PTI)
Paper: cajun craze, crumb cake, crushed curry, old olive, soft suede, all is bright dsp (Stampin'-Up)
Paper Size: A2
Ink: cajun craze, real red, crushed curry (Stampin'-Up), rusty hinge distress (Ranger)
