Parcel & Post Birthday

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today. It's Memorial Day here in the USA. We had a parade in our local community. It's always well attended and the little kids love it.

We didn't do much of anything else. My hubby was out working in his gardens for a bit. And then we went out to buy a new mattress. We just don't seem to have luck with mattresses. Hopefully this one will last for the 12 years that its warranted for. We felt the salesman was honest and gave us good information.

I have neglected my blog for a month but with good reason. It was primary election season here in PA and I am involved in the local political scene. So, I was busy doing mailings, door knocking, phone bank work and texting.

I was creating but only for the color challenge on Splitcoaststampers. I am still a part of that team. This one was for color challenge #1051. We were to use daffodil delight, real red, granny apple green and azure afternoon for the color combination. Optional was an anything goes theme. I chose pretty in pink for my option.
real red, granny apple green, azure afternoon, daffodil delight

I used the Spellbinders Parcel & Post die to create my card. I cut the mailbox in azure afternoon and night of navy (neutral). The flowers are cut in the challenge colors + pretty in pink as my dessert option.

I embossed the background panel with the boho chic embossing folder from Stampin' Up. Stamped my sentiment with the coordinating stamp set to this die.

That's my card for this post. So until next time......God bless.

Card Details:
Stamps: Parcel & Post Sentiments (Spellbinders)
Paper: real red, daffodil delight, granny apple green, azure afternoon, night of navy, pretty in pink, white, smoky slate, silver metallic (Stampin' Up)
Ink: night of navy (Stampin' Up)
Accessories: Parcel & Post dies (Spellbinders, Boho Chic EF (Stampin' Up)

I am also entering:

Artist Palette

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It was a beautiful Spring Day here in Pittsburgh. We were out early this morning for our 2-mile walk. It always feels so good to be out walking with the sun shining and it's not cold.

We have been having a lot of carpenter bees, honeybees and wasps here the past few days. Maybe because there was 2 weeks of rain, and none were around. I guess they are looking for places to make a hive.

We have lots of trees here, so I am never quite sure why they go for the porch or the deck or even the garage. When they nest in an inappropriate place my hubby has to knock the hive down for our safety. He always catches the hive formation in its early stages. Mostly it's the wasp nests that he discovers.

Anyway, onto my card for today. This one I created for the color challenge #996 on Splitcoaststampers. We were to use lemon lolly, polished pink and parakeet party for her color trio. Optional this week is to use an embossing folder. The option didn't work for me on this card.
My card is using a new to me die from Spellbinders - the painter's palette. I created a shaped card using the die. My daughter-in-law is an art teacher, and this will be her card for Mother's Day.

I cut the artist palette in ivory cardstock. The paint blobs are cut in the challenge colors + designer paper in crumb cake and smoky slate.

I cut two of the blobs in lemon lolly cardstock and added the same color ink to get a deeper yellow shade.
The brush is pecan pie and metallic silver (neutrals).

To get splatters on the palette, I used a brush and the challenge color reinkers to flick ink on the palette. What artist would have a clean palette?

I used the Tim Holtz "chitchat stickers" to add the sentiment. The Mother's Day greeting will be on the card inside.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So, until next time.....God bless.

Card Details:
Paper: ivory, polished pink, lemon lolly, white, metallic silver, perfectly artistic dsp (Stampin' Up)

Santa Letter Mailbox

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's a rainy Sunday here in Pittsburgh. We started our day off with church and we also taught Sunday school. My hubby and I have the 5–7-year-olds. It's a great age group to work with.

We did our lesson on the Nativity and then we had them make a Nativity Christmas ornament to take home. I found this idea on Pinterest, and it worked out well. I didn't use her template but used a die and cut my own nativity scene.

Now I am at home relaxing and enjoying a quiet Sunday afternoon. Maybe I should be wrapping gifts, but I just don't feel like doing anything. That can always be done tomorrow. I had a busy week and taking this day as a day of rest.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for the color challenge #978 on Splitcoaststampers. I was the hostess and I chose real red, white and blueberry bushel for the color trio. Optional was anything goes.
real red, white, blueberry bushel

This was one of my last Christmas cards, and I selected these colors so I could use this new to me mailbox die from Spellbinders.

Cut the images in the challenge colors and for my anything goes option I chose to use green - old olive and mossy meadow.

My background paper is from the Stampin' Up "winter meadow" collection. I cut a snowbank in white glitter paper and stamped my sentiment to complete my card.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So, until next time......God bless.

Card Details:
Stamps: parcel & post sentiments (Spellbinders)
Paper: real red, white, blueberry bushel, old olive, mossy meadow, winter meadow dsp (Stampin' Up), white & red glitter paper (Paper Studio)

Give Thanks

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today. Hope your week went well and that you have some fun plans for the weekend.

I had cataract surgery this week on my left eye. The surgery went well, and the healing of my eye is also going well. I did have some computer restrictions and close up work seemed to put a strain on my eye. So, I have not been doing much. If you follow my Blog, you know that I am always busy in my kitchen or my craft room.

Needless to say I am happy to be posting a card today. This one I made before the surgery. But, I am so looking forward to getting back into the groove with card making. I will rest the weekend and then Monday I plan to be in my craft room.

Now onto this card. I made it for the color challenge #961 on Splitcoaststampers. We were to use soft succulent, calypso coral and misty moonlight for the color trio. Optional is add an additional color.
I decided to try and make a Thanksgiving card with these colors. I believe I was successful.
soft succulent, calypso coral, misty moonlight
My turkey is a new to me die from Spellbinders- Happy Turkey Day. I used some allowed neutrals (crumb cake & choc chip) and the challenge colors + pale papaya as my 4th color to create him.

The background designer paper is from the Stampin' Up "tidings of Christmas" collection. It is a subtle pattern, and I thought it had a Fall appeal to it. I didn't want to cover it up, so I used an arch die to frame the turkey. Stamped my sentiment on the arch. It's a Paper Pumpkin Kit stamp from 2020.

To finish off my card, I cut some leaves in soft succulent and sponged them with calypso coral and soft succulent inks. Added a few acorns and my card is complete.

Well, that's it for me for this Blog post. So, until next time......God bless.

Card Details:
Stamps: hello pumpkin (PP Kit Sept 2020)
Paper: soft succulent, misty moonlight, calypso coral, pale papaya, choc chip, sahara sand, ivory, crumb cake, tidings of Christmas dsp (Stampin' Up)

Ink: misty moonlight, soft succulent, calypso coral, soft papaya (Stampin' Up)

HYCCT1530Survivor ~A cup of cheer~

Hello Blogger friends and a happy Saturday to you all. Hope your day went well and that you had some relaxing time before the big holiday rush next week.

I went to the market today to  pick up my turkey. I get such a big one that it needs several days to thaw. Don't know why I didn't make a list with me so I could get everything I need for my meal.

I was on my way home from my son's home and thought I should get the turkey. I tried to remember off the top of my head what I need for all the dishes I make. But, of course I didn't remember everything so another trip to the market is necessary. That will have to be done early in the week because traffic will get crazy after Tuesday.

Today, I finally addressed the Thanksgiving cards I will be mailing. They are all local so the cards will get there by Tuesday. A few of them I hand deliver along with a little gift. Now it's onto my Christmas cards. I am so far behind on those so some serious mass producing is in order.

Now onto my card for today. This is another I made for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. Ceal was our hostess for this 30th challenge and she  wants us to make a card of encouragement letting them know it's going to be okay.

I used the teacup stack die from Poppy Stamps and backed the cups with pink pirouette, rose red, mint macaron card stocks from Stampin'-Up.

The sending word is a die from Simon Says Stamp, and I cut it in rose red card stock. My sentiment is from the happy thoughts stamp set- an exclusive set from the Paper Pumpkin Kit June 2015.

The background paper is from the Stampin'-Up - "pretty petals" collection. And I used the layout from the week 5 Viva la Verve sketch.

This card is going off to my bff in Virginia who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I have been sending her a card weekly with a note of encouragement. Her name is Elaine if you want to pray for her.

And with that, my post for today is coming to an end. So until next time.......God bless.

HYCCT1523 ~butterfly tattoo~

Hello Blogger Friends and a happy Tuesday to you all. Today is one of the days I help out at our church pre-school.

I don't like to say work because I retired after 30+ years in the telecommunications industry with Verizon. Now, instead of tending to the interests of corporate America,  I am investing in the lives of 3 year olds that is much more worthwhile.

I have taken on more of a role this year as far as being involved in the classroom planning. I teach the alphabet to the children and read at story time. I have never been much of a backseat person.  My management years in corporate are working for me here in the classroom as well.

The books I read tie back to the letter we are learning for the week. Found a great website (This Reading Mama) where the woman offers free alphabet packs.  She gives everything you need for the letter as well as coordinated books.

We use paint daubers with the kids to imitate tracing the letter. The paper we pass out has the letter on it with circles (for daubing) plus a picture of something starting with that letter.

Then on our review day, which is Thursday), I give them a blank letter with different pictures of things starting with the letter we are learning. I have them glue the pictures into the letter. They like doing both of these activities.

The website owner has a masters degree in education and has used this material for her own kids. Courtney (our director) really likes using this material for our kids.

Now, onto my card for today. This is my card for Jeanne's Hope You Can Cling To #23 challenge. She wants us to use any image or phrase on your card that you think would make a pretty tattoo.

I think a butterfly makes a great tattoo. And since I love this butterfly die from Stampin'-Up, I decided to use it for my card. Also, I think the sentiment would be a perfect accompaniment to a butterfly tattoo.

My thoughts are if the tattoo artist had this butterfly image they could fill it in with all the fabulous colors the person who is getting the tattoo wants (lol)!!

My background designer paper is from the Stampin'-Up collection "greenhouse gala" collection. I added a green pear pizzazz panel that I embossed.

Cut a couple of labels 18 dies to frame the sentiment, added some ribbon, pearls and a white doily for interest to complete this card.

Well, Blogger friends that's it for me for today. Time to get ready for pre-school. So until next time........God bless.

Stamps: butterfly basics (Stampin'-Up)
Paper: peach parfait, pear pizzazz, whisper white, greenhouse gala dsp (Stampin'-Up)

HYCCT1510 ~Know you are loved~

Hello Blogger Friends and a happy Sunday to you all. I mentioned yesterday that it was my 28th wedding anniversary.

We went out to do some bike riding and just spend the entire day together, It was such a peaceful day and you know that even on your wedding anniversary little things can pop up that cause friction (lol). Well, I am happy to say it was none of that.

We drove a little over an hour away to an area in the Laurel Highlands called Ohiopyle for our bike ride. There is a beautiful wooded path along the Youghiogheny river. We rented mountain bikes from the Kickstand. This area is also where people go for white water rafting. Something that I have never done nor do I want to do. I prefer to take the safer option and bike ride along the river.

Then on our drive back we found a little café where we stopped to eat. They just opened in April and the food is delicious. The Bittersweet Cafe serves organic, free range chicken and grass fed local beef. It was quite a unique find for us. They grow their own vegetables and herbs in season. There is also an antique shop connected to the café. We talked to the owner for a bit as well. She is 85 years old and sharp as a tack.

We returned home had a champagne toast and decided to watch a pay per view movie. It ended up being Jurassic World and we both liked it. So ended our day. A bit different of an anniversary celebration but both of us liked what we did a lot.

Now onto my card for today. This is one I made for 2 SCS challenges. CC552 that Peggy is hosting and also the Hope You Can Cling To challenge #10 that Barbara is hosting.

Color Challenge 552: pool party, pistachio pudding and sahara sand. Option is to use our favorite embellishment. At the moment my fave is die-cuts.

HYCCT1510: is to make a card with a tag on it.

Then I saw the Viva La Verve October week 2 sketch, and that is also using a tag. So that’s my card layout for this week.

My background designer paper and the designer paper  in the circle are from the Stampin’-Up “gold soiree” collection. I layered that onto some gold cardstock. These colors are so subtle that I thought a darker neutral would work. So I chose gold. My card base is sahara sand.

My scalloped circle is a die from Spellbinders and the tag is from the MFT Tag Builder Blueprints 4. The sentiment is from the Marks Finest Papers “you are cherished” set. I stamped in soft suede ink.

To complete my card I die cut a fern in pistachio and added some pistachio hearts and a bit of pool party ribbon. That's my card for today. Time to close this post and start to get ready for church. So until next time........God bless.

Stamps: you are cherished (MFP)

HYCCT1506 ~Love~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. It's a lovely fall weekend here in Pittsburgh.

Yesterday we went to our neighbors wedding reception. It was held at The Overton Museum and Distillery, a historic and quaint site east of Pittsburgh.
The wedding reception itself was held in their barn. It was decorated so beautifully.

I helped out with the wedding invitations and also the table favors. Tijana was such a beautiful bride and she did a fabulous job of creating the wedding of her dreams. I was glad to have a small hand in it.

Now onto my card for today. This is another I made for the Hope You can Cling To Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. For this HYCCT1506 challenge, Stacy is the hostess and she wants us to create a card with a trio of hearts and add in some red somewhere too.

For my card I used the Love border die from Impression Obsession. The top hearts are from Cheery Lynn Designs and the bottom heart is from Spellbinders.

I completed my card with my sentiment. It's from the Verve "stronger love" set. I thought this would be a nice Valentine card or even on just to let the one you love know it. It will be sent off the MD Andersen Cancer Center in Texas.

Well, that's it for me for today. I am off to my craft room to make some more cards for these challenges. I am so far behind and hoping to get at least 4 cards made today.

So until next time blogger friends.........God bless.

~Woo-Hoo~

Happy Saturday Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit The Charmed Life Blog. It's a holiday weekend here in the US.

We are having my son and family over tomorrow for a cookout. Don't know how much time we will be outside because its going to be 87° with high humidity. But being together as family will be so nice.

For today, I have a couple of hours work left with the wedding invitations I am working on. They will be ready for mailing on Tuesday morning. I will post photos of them at another time.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #546 on Splitcoaststampers. Peggy is our hostess and she chose rich razzleberry, cucumber crush and tangelo twist for her color palette.

rich razzleberry, cucumber crush, tangelo twist

I decided to make a kid's card with these colors. I will need birthday cards throughout the school year for our pre-school kiddos. This one will be perfect for a boy.

Saw some robot cards on Pinterest the other day and thought I would give it a try. I really like how it turned out. Used lots of Stampin'-Up punches and a Spellbinders die.

Robot body and head - Spellbinders square dies
Legs and arms - Stampin'-Up word window punch
Circles on body- 1 ¼" and 1" circle punches
Circles on legs- ½" circle punch
Circles at shoulders- ¾" circle punch- cut in half
Hands ¾" circle punch and cut into with a ½" circle punch
Eyes - used owl builder punch eyes
Mouth - ½" circle punch
Ears - owl builder punch
Feet - 3/4" circle punch - cut in half

On my background I used the Stampin'-Up chevron embossing folder. The sentiment is from the Stampin-Up "just sayin" set.

That's my card for today. We are going out to look at appliances. Lots of Labor Day weekend sales and we are beginning the process for our kitchen update. so until next time.......God bless.

~Hugs From Afar~

Hello Blogger Friends!! Thanks for taking the time to visit The Charmed Life Blog on this Sunday in July.

We are back home after our little getaway. We came home to very hot and humid weather. That's ok since we need our tomatoes to start to ripen.

Yesterday, I went, with my friend Linda, to the rubber stamp show that comes to Pittsburgh in July. They moved the venue this year to a location about an hour from me.

The organizers said attendance was down. Hopefully, it will pick up for today. I like having a stamp show come to the Pittsburgh area each year. But, if its not attended that will keep vendors from returning and then the organizers will pull out.

We did 3 make and takes and lots of shopping. So all in all it was a fun day with my friend Linda. We are planning on a get together in a couple of weeks to use some of our new products. That is always a great day.

I am working on my post before church so let's get on to my card for today. This one I made awhile ago and just didn't post it to my blog. I made a similar card with this post back in January. But this one is a simplified version.

I wanted a card of encouragement and the plane die and background paper helped me make a quick card. The designer paper is from the Stampin'-Up collection "welcome neighbor".  My plane die is from Impression Obsession.

The houses and clouds helped decide my card colors. I used melon mambo and bermuda bay card stock. Cut the plane in melon mambo. The sentiment on the banner is from Verve. It was a free one I received for an order placed.

Well, that's my card for today. So until next time.........God bless.

Happy Father's Day

Hello Blogger Friends! It's Sunday and we are celebrating Father's Day. My hubby is out cutting the grass (his choice) and then plans to spend the later afternoon and evening watching the US Open. It's being held near Seattle so that's a 3 hour time difference.

Our son here in Pittsburgh just returned from their trip last night and Ethan has a baseball game today. So we probably won't see them until later on in the week. And our son in California will call with his Father's Day wishes. We get to see them in another month. They are coming to Pittsburgh for our family reunion.

We returned Apollo, my son's dog, yesterday. He was so excited to see his family once again. It is a lot of work taking care of a dog if you don't have one. But, this morning I actually missed having him  here with us.

Now onto my card for today. This is one that I made for a friend who asked if I had any extra cards. She wanted one for her hubby, Dad and Father-in-law. I had only 2 extra ones so I put this one together for her. It is a Clean and simple design but I liked how it turned out.

This is a mainly Stampin'-Up only card. I don't make many of those but the other 2 I gave Kendra were this color scheme so I was trying to keep things somewhat similar. The card base is blackberry bliss and the designer paper is from the "Moonlight" collection.

My flag is cut in hello honey cardstock and I used a MFT die. My circle is embossed with the Stampin'-Up "on point" folder.

The sentiment is the stamp set that was included in the April Paper Pumpkin kit from Stampin'-Up. I have been getting those kits for a year now and I can say that I have loved every one of them.

To complete my card I added some extra thick bakers twine in blackberry bliss. This was part of an in-color accessory pack offered by Stampin'-Up during sale-a-bration this year.

Time to finish this post and start my hubby's Father's Day dinner.  My neighbor just sent over a big pot of homemade marinara sauce. It is really delicious. So I am going to make some chicken parmesan, a potato-kale casserole and a tossed salad. We have lots of garden lettuce growing. So until next time.........God bless.

card details:
stamps: love you a lot  (paper pumpkin April 2015 kit)
paper: blackberry bliss, hello honey,  whisper white, moonlight dsp (Stampin'-Up)
ink: blackberry bliss
accessories: MFT flag stax dies, Spellbinders circle dies, Sizzix on-point embossing folder
