the banana birdie

Happy Tuesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Tuesdays are the day I look forward to because its the day I meet my grandsons school bus.

I got caught in some traffic on my way over and was about 3 minutes late getting there.
Ethan (our youngest) always gets concerned if I 'm not there when they get home. When I give him my story he is always okay.
I forgot my cell phone so I couldn't call and let them know I was on my way.
So we did homework and had some snacks then the boys went outside to play hockey.

Aidin was supposed to have a baseball game at 6:00 but it was changed to 8:00. Well we are supposed to have frost tonight so I decided not to stay for the game.
I like watching them play but not in the cold with winter coats and gloves on.

Little league baseball, to me, should be played when its warm and you are sitting in the bleachers with shorts and sandals on. You know what I mean??

They are going to Boston on Sunday for a few days to watch the RedSox play. Every year they take a mini-trip to a city with a major league baseball team. The boys love it. Somehow, I think  they like staying in a hotel with a swimming pool more but they talk about the game afterwards.

Now onto my card for today.  When I came home I put together a card that covered 3 challenges:

1.  The color challenge on splitcoaststampers today was one of those out of the box challenges for me. I like that Betty Wright pushes me like she does. Our colors today were ballet blue, barely banana and old olive. I struggled with the ballet blue but in the end I used it on the wing of my bird.

2.  The challenge on the StampinB blog was a color challenge as well. They asked for blue, yellow and white. So my card qualified for this one as well.

3.  My layout came from Mercy Kerins's Tuesday sketch challenge. This was a fun layout and one that I found easy to work with.

My card uses the designer paper from stampin-up's tall tales pack.  My banana panel was run through my big shot with a cuttlebug embossing folder-"just my type".
I used the bird punch from stampin-up. I tried to sponge in some cloud in the background.
I added a little ribbon tab above my sentiment.  I was thinking I might be able to use this for a Mother's Day card. I'm not sure my husband wasn't really wild about this card.

Oh well, it's late and I am tired so its time to dim the lights in charmed life land for today.
Until next time-God bless.

card recipe:
stamps: all year cheer
paper: old olive, barely banana, tall tales dsp, ballet blue
ink: old olive, ballet blue
accessories: circle punches, 2 step bird punch, olive ribbon
