Birthday Cones

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this first Sunday in June.

It's been a wonderful weekend for us. My grandson Ethan, graduated from high school on Friday, and we all went out afterwards for a luncheon. He didn't want a graduation party so we went to a restaurant instead. Just the immediate family.

Then Saturday evening we were back at my son's home for a retirement dinner for my hubby. He actually retired in February, but we just couldn't seem to get a dinner scheduled because of the high school baseball season. My youngest son came in for the weekend for the graduation so we were all together once again last evening.

My daughter-in-law is a fabulous cook and we enjoyed a leg of lamb last night. She cooked it at a lower temp for 3 hours. It was fork tender and so delicious. Served with a side of fresh white beans cooked in rosemary, thyme, onion, garlic and carrots. The flavors were incredible. We also had broccoli and a tossed green salad. Our dessert was an apple-rhubarb pie. We were all so satisfied with the dinner. And, my hubby was blessed to be treated to such a meal with our family.

I am getting hungry just thinking about it again. So let's move onto my card for today. This one I created for the color challenge #739 on Splitcoaststampers. Jeanne was our hostess and she chose blushing bride, so saffron and pool party for her color trio. Optional was to make an event card.
so saffron, blushing bride, pool party
I needed a birthday card for a female friend, and these subtle colors were perfect for a girlie type card. I had an old MFT #234 sketch saved on Pinterest and used that for my card layout.
The ice cream cone die is from MFT and I cut the 5 ice cream scoops in the challenge colors. The cone is cut in baked brown sugar (a neutral) cardstock. The background designer paper is from the Stampin'-Up Subtles collection.

I cut a banner in blushing bride cardstock and stamped my happy birthday sentiment. I finished off my card with some pink enamel dots.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...…..God bless.
