Make Gnome Mistake

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Another weekend is upon us. We have a busy day today. First, we have my niece's graduation party to attend. Then there is a special fundraiser we will also be attending.

The fundraiser is for a little boy who was in my Pre-School class. In October he was one of the 6 children in the Pittsburgh area who was hit with AFM. It's a polio like virus that left him unable to walk.

There have been plenty of hospital stays in the ICU. He will be undergoing surgery in the next couple of months. A Dr in St Louis has pioneered a nerve transplant surgery for kids with AFM. She has had great success with the surgery. Kids have been able to walk again. Here is a link that gives more info about Sam.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the Gnome on Tree Stump die to create a birthday card for my son. The inside will have the birthday greeting.

I started my card with the sketch #755 from Splitcoaststampers. I already had the designer papers in mind that I wanted to use so this sketch worked out great for me.
I bought a paper pack from Hobby Lobby that had a nice selection of watercolored background papers. The blue looked like a sky so I went with that one for element 1 of the sketch. I also had some paper that had a rainbow on it. So I used that for element 2, 3, 4 and the circle shape.

I cut the gnome in different colors of cardstock. I used the packaging photo because the colors would coordinate well with my designer papers.
The sentiment is from a stamp set by Sweet Pea Designs. It's all about gnomes. I stamped directly on the designer paper using blueberry bushel ink (Stampin'-Up).
The gnome is attached to the circle using dimensional adhesive.

I finished off my card by adding a few glitter enamel dots. Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time......God bless.

Teacup Bouquet

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

I am enjoying summer break from Pre-School. Have been getting lots of things done around my home that there isn't time for during the school year.
It's Spring cleaning for me even though it's summer time. I still have not managed to get into my craft room yet to do some reorganizing. But hopefully next week I can get that started.

Doesn't look like we are going to get to the beach this year. My hubby said there is too much going on in his gardens that we cant take a week away. But, we are going to get to go to San Francisco in September. Even though my son lives at the beach, it's just not the same as the East Coast beaches.

Oh well, I am not going to dwell on it so let's move onto my card for today. This one I created for the sketch challenge #752 on Splitcoaststampers. Cathy was the hostess and she provided a great sketch for our cards.

I started my card by picking the designer paper. I used the Stampin'-Up "floral romance specialty" designer paper. The pattern I chose is a vellum paper so I used some powder pink as the under layer.

For element 2 of the sketch I used pear pizzazz ribbon.

My floral image is from the CottageCutz "Spring Teacup Bouquet" die. I will send this to my friend for her July birthday. She loves teacups and has quite a collection.

Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

Get Well Wishes

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. We have been having some great warm and sunny days. Our flower gardens are blooming profusely and the vegetable garden is coming along nicely.
So far just zucchini, lettuce, sweet peas and garlic scapes. But soon the banana peppers will be ready and sometime toward the end of July we should start getting tomatoes.

The local farms are already starting to sell corn. We love it and pick it up regularly during the summer. I went to the farmers market last week and picked up eggs and sausage. I missed the rhubarb this year again. I wanted to try making a rhubarb and strawberry pie but that will have to wait until next year.

Anyway, onto my card for today. This one I created for a group DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the new Wishing Well die to create my card. I love the detail in this die. Notice the woodgrain scallop roof and the grout lines in the well base.

I used a sky patterned paper from Paper Studio for my background. I built my well and then added the flowers at the base. When I saw this die I thought of a get well card as a takeoff on the well itself. The sentiment is from the Stampin'-Up "perfectly penned" set. The "wishes phrase" is from another CottageCutz die.

And, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

Sending Fairy Kisses

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time tostop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this Sunday In June.

Well, it's official summer has arrived. Pittsburgh is celebrating with 3 days of sunshine and warm temps. We have had so much rain so a little sun is needed to dry things out a bit.

My hubby's veggie garden is doing great. We already harvested our basil twice and the other day we picked a big zucchini. I made pesto with the basil, and we will enjoy it tonight for dinner along with smoked mozzarella ravioli and a salad.

The zucchini I stuffed with a combo of hot and sweet Italian sausage. We enjoyed that the other day. I went to the farmers market and picked up a couple more and then I was able to share dinner with my next door neighbors.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for a group post on the CottageCutz Blog. There was just a new release of dies and the DT is showcasing them for the next week.

For my card, I used the Sweet Fairy die. I just bought a Hero Arts stamp set that had the fairy kisses sentiment and fairy dust. Since I wanted this to be a birthday card with an inside sentiment of …...and birthday wishes, it all coordinated perfectly for me.

For my image background, I used some rainbow designer paper. Framed the image panel using the Stitched Wide Rectangle die in purple posy cardstock. It's one of the new Stampin'-Up colors. I like how it blends so nicely with the highland heather cardstock.  Love the new shades of purple they have introduced.

Finished off my card with a few purple sequins. Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

A Wonderful Adventure

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Happy first day of summer as well. It's the longest day of the year today. Our day here in Pittsburgh was sunny and warm. A nice turnaround after the 3 days of rain we just had.

I was sick with a cold this week. I felt so bad on Sunday because it was Father's Day and I was in bed. The congestion and coughing really hit me hard on Saturday and Sunday. Hubby made chicken soup for me and didn't complain at all. I did have a card for him but no gift.
My intent was to go to this specialty candy store near my home and get him some of his favorite chocolates. But, that didn't happen for Sunday. Hopefully, I will make it there sometime this weekend.

Now, onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #742. Stef was our hostess and she chose balmy blue, night of navy and lemon-lime twist for her color trio. Optional was to make an ocean scene or masculine card.
balmy blue, night of navy, lemon-lime twist

For my card, I decided to go with the ocean scene. I needed a graduation card for a young man and my thoughts went to him entering the sea of life. I will mention that inside the card.

Started my card by stamping the balmy blue designer paper with balmy blue ink. I used the texture stamp from the Stampin'-Up "sea of textures" set. Then at the bottom of the paper I stamped the seaweed in lemon lime twist ink.

Since I didn't buy the dies for the Stampin'-Up set, I had to use the Seaside set from Reverse Confetti for the octopus. He is stamped in night of navy ink.

The sentiment is from the Stampin-Up set. The netting, seaweed and coral are dies from CottageCutz. I cut the seaweed and coral in lemon-lime twist and the netting in crumb cake (neutral).

To finish off my card, I wrapped some twine, tied a bow and attached the octopus with dimensional adhesive. Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time......God bless.

card details:
Stamps: sea of textures (Stampin'- Up), seaside (Reverse Confetti)
Paper: night of navy, balmy blue, very vanilla, lemon-lime twist, crumb cake, tranquil textures dsp (Stampin'-Up)
Paper Size: A2
Ink: night of navy, balmy blue, lemon-lime twist
Accessories: seaside die (Reverse Confetti), rope, under the sea, oval dies (CottageCutz), enamel dots, twine (Stampin'-Up)

A Fairy Happy Day

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this 3rd Saturday in June.

I am battling a cold with just coughing symptoms right now. My hubby was sick earlier this week and passed it on to me. Although his symptoms were so mild. I made a chest rub from essential oils and it seems to be helping the cough. It's summertime and who gets a cold this time of year! (LOL)

Anyway, onto my card for today. This one I made for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. There is a new release of dies and I used the Mushroom Fairy Garden to create my card. So here are some details on this card.

Step 1: I started off by die cutting the pieces for my fairy garden scene. I wanted those colors done first because I was going to sponge the background and I wanted the colors to complement each other.
For the background, I used tumbled glass, broken china, spun sugar and picked raspberry distress inks. When I was satisfied with the color intensity, I misted it lightly with water to get a more muted type look. Perfect for my fairy and her mushroom garden.
Step 2: I am ready to start card assembly. I stamped my sentiment with Stampin'-Up "gorgeous grape ink. The sentiment is from Your Next Stamp the "wishing well fairy" set.
I die cut the "wish" word from highland heather cardstock. It's one of the newere Stampin'-Up purple shades.
Mounted the image panel also using highland heather cardstock. Scattered a few sequins and my card is complete.
I was happy how this one turned out.
Sometimes you have an idea in your head and when it translates to paper, it's good. Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

A Birthday Bloom

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

We celebrated my Mother-in-laws 89th birthday yesterday. We were going to take her out to a restaurant to celebrate but plans changed and we celebrated at my sister-in-laws home. That's where Mom lives now. When parents reach that age, you just go with the flow.

I made the meal and took it over there. We had pasta with a meat sauce, meatballs, salad and some crusty bread. I make my own sauce and used the last of the tomatoes that I canned last summer. My secret ingredient is to use a cup of red wine in the sauce. It really makes the flavors pop.

There were 8 of us and everyone really liked the meal especially Mom. She thanked me several times for bringing the food over. We made that our gift to her. Because she doesn't need anything and we bought her several hanging flower baskets for Mothers Day. And of course she received one of my handmade cards.  It wasn't this one but now I am wondering why I didn't give her this one.

Anyway, onto the details of this card. I made it for the color challenge #741 on Splitcoaststampers. Karen was our hostess and she chose soft seafoam, petal pink and crumb cake as her color trio.  Optional was to use polka dots on our card.
petal pink, soft seafoam, crumb cake
For my card, I used the SU "bloom by bloom stamp set. I did my background stamping in soft seafoam, pretty in pink, crumb cake and night of navy (neutral). I don't have the petal pink ink so I subbed with the pretty in pink. I also stamped off once for the flowers when I used the night of navy ink.

On the main floral image, I used my MISTI and stamped twice to get a deeper color on the pink and the soft seafoam. The dots above the flower are stamped in crumb cake ink. That covers the optional item.

I selected night of navy for my card base and also as a layering panel for the main image. I needed some contrast for these very light colors.

The birthday sentiment is stamped in night of navy ink and I added a few pink enamel dots to complete my card. Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time...…..God bless.

card details:
Stamps: bloom by bloom (Stampin'-Up), be blessed (Verve)
Paper: night of navy, pretty in pink, whisper white (Stampin'-Up)
Paper Size: A2
Ink: pretty in pink, soft seafoam, crumb cake, night of navy (Stampin'-Up)

Make A Wish

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

I am so enjoying my time off school. I have been crafting and starting the re-organization of my craft room. Nothing too major just looking for better ways to organize what I have. I have been walking with my hubby on the days I don't go to the gym. I work out with 3 other women and we have kept each other going for the past 5 years.

It's also time for me to harvest the first crop of basil and make some pesto. I freeze it without adding any Parmesan cheese and then when I take it out the cheese gets added along with a bit more olive oil. We so enjoy having this all winter long. I will probably get to that tomorrow.

Now onto my card for today. This one I made for the color challenge #740 on Splitcoaststampers. I was the hostess and the color trio I chose was mango melody melody, poppy parade and call me clover. Optional was a birthday or thank you card.

mango melody, poppy parade, call me clover
I made a birthday card for a friend who is a mushroom connoisseur. She buys her mushrooms at this specialty store in Avondale, PA. She raves about the quality of their mushrooms. I have had them and can say they are quite delicious. She always brings back some exotic mushrooms when she travels there. So, I thought she might like this card.

I used the CottageCutz stitched mushrooms die and cut them in the challenge colors. On the largest mushroom I added a layer of crumb cake (neutral).

My background designer paper is from the Stampin'- Up Painted Seasons collection. It has all the challenge colors.

My sentiment is from the Stampin'-Up "life is grand" set. It's one of their distinctive stamps. I love the big bold sentiments and the way the set stamps.

I added some poppy parade ribbon and a few poppy parade dots and my card is complete. Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.
