Happy Saturday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. I mentioned in my last post we were going to take a day trip to Ohio. We did this on Friday. It was a beautiful day for driving. We went to the area in Ohio that is referred to as Amish Country.
I love travelling to there. It is so peaceful with all the rolling countryside and the many farms. The Amish are such skilled craftsmen in woodworking. All of our wood oak furniture was purchased from this area. You can't find anything like it in any store here anyway.
We wanted to purchase a sideboard for our dining room. It's a smaller piece of furniture that gives you some storage and is perfect for serving. We ordered it about 8 weeks ago.
So we drove up to pick it up and did some other shopping.
Today, we attended a birthday party for one of our neighbors. Sueann, my next door neighbor, was our hostess. What a wonderful party she can put on. She has the gift of hospitality for sure. She pays attention to each and every detail. You don't use paper plates in her home. Her ice tea is served from cut glass pitchers.
It was such a relaxing time and a chance to visit with some of the neighbors that we hadn't seen all winter.
I made my card early in the day but didn't have the opportunity to post until evening. This one is for 2 challenges:
1. The Saturday inspiration challenge on splitcoaststampers was hosted by Anne this week. She sent us to a great site called Jazz It Up Home Interiors. There was a lot of funky and contemporary accessories on the site.
I chose this funky retro phone as my inspiration. I knew I had the perfect image from Gina K Designs to use. And, also some great dsp from Graphic45 that had these retro phones on it.
2. The crazy for challenges blog had a sketch challenge today. The sketch came from Cindy Haffner. She is such a talented stamper. So a shout out to Cindy for a great sketch.
I used the upper crest border punch between my dsp panels. The image & sentiment is from Gina K "sung from the heart collection". I only stamped part of the sentiment because I thought I could use this as a birthday card and stamp "happy birthday" on the inside.
I stamped the image on so saffron card stock and sponged vintage photo ink for the retro look. I used oval nesties to frame the image per the sketch. Added some black rhinestones and that finished my card.
I am so tired so it's time to dim the lights in charmed life land for today. God Bless all my blogger friends.
card recipe:
stamps: sung from the heart
paper: bazzill maraschino, su so saffron, graphic45 dsp
ink: memento black
accessories: rhinestones, nesties, fiskars upper crest border punch
PRETTY PRETTY, I love that paper, thanks for playing along.

ReplyDeleteLove your vintage card, Mary! The DP is perfect for the retro image. I'm very familiar with that part of Ohio. I grew up in Hartville (between Canton and Akron), but my dad was raised in Sugarcreek. My mom has hand-quilted and crocheted items for sale in one of the gift shops in Berlin. Who knows...you might have been there on your shopping spree. :-)
