Yesterday was a snowy Sunday for us in Pittsburgh. Everything looked so serene and peaceful last night as it was falling. There were no cards out and it left the blanket of white undisturbed for awhile. It dropped a lot about 4"-6' of snow on us. We definitely have had more snow this season that last year. That's good for the local ski resorts. We only have a couple in the mountains around us and a snowfall is always a good thing for them.
Now onto my card for today. This one I created for the color challenge #828 on Splitcoaststampers. Chris was our hostess and she chose daffodil delight, basic gray and smoky slate for her color trio. Optional was something that moves.
I used the layout from the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge #837. I also have it posted on the CottageCutz Blog for my DT post.
I decided to make a Valentine in some non-traditional colors. This one will go to my precious little granddaughter who loves horses. I made another Valentine card using this same layout. You can see that one here.
For the background. I stenciled stripes using the classy stripes stencil from Altenew with daffodil ink. The Prancing Horse die is from CottageCutz and part of the new Circus collection. I cut it in the challenge colors and for his saddle and reins I used night of navy designer paper from the Stampin'-Up "see a silhouette" collection. This pattern had an ombre effect which worked out great for the accessories.
For elements 3 & 4 of the sketch, I cut daffodil cardstock 1/2" x 7 1/2" and embossed it with a Darice hearts embossing folder. The "no horsin around" sentiment is computer generated.
Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time.......God bless.
