Believe in the Magic

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this last Saturday in September.

It's been a whirlwind September for me. Preschool started and I was busy getting my lesson plans and bulletin boards ready. Then I had a short trip to San Francisco to take care of my precious granddaughter.

My son asked me last May to come out because they had a short trip planned to New Orleans. It really wasn't a good time for either of us but the time spent with my granddaughter was priceless. Now this weekend I am over my other son's home taking care of their dog while they visit my grandson at college.

Now that you know why I haven't posted for awhile, let's get started on my card for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I am using a new Christmas die "Believe in the Magic".

I wanted to make a CAS card that would be easy to make multiples of for Christmas. I used this new "let it snow" designer paper from Stampin'-Up. I paired it up with coordinating coastal cabana and white cardstocks.

I made it slightly larger than my normal A2 cards.
coastal cabana card base: 5 3/4" x 4 1/2"
white layering panel: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
designer paper panel: 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
I used real red and shaded spruce cardstocks for my die cuts.
Attached the die cut images with Ranger multi medium matte. This one dries clear which is why I like to use it. I wanted to create a partial reindeer shadow in the moon so I cut just one reindeer in black cardstock and did a slight offset.  The moon is cut from the CottageCutz circle set. It's a 2" circle.
To finish off my card I attached the image panel to the card base and scattered a few sequins for interest.
Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

SnowBalls 4 Sale

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Well here we are in mid -September already. My preschool classes started last week. The first day it was only an hour and we had parents stay with us. Even with parents there we had 2 kids crying and then Thursday the class was 2 hours and no parents. We had 2 kids crying the entire class.

They just get scared that the parents aren't going to come back for them and it's their first time in school. We are hoping for no tears this coming Tuesday. Both kids have really never been away from their parents according to the parents. And on a brighter note, the kids are smart and able to follow instructions. I can see that even after 2 classes.

Now onto my class for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog.

I used the current Mojo sketch for my card layout.

My designer paper reminded me of a snow storm so I went with it. The colors are balmy blue from Stampin'-Up. I used the dimensions provided on the sketch for the panels.
The new Christmas 2019 dies have been released and I used the Snowman w/Snowballs die on this card. I used red and green cardstocks -after all he is a Christmas snowman. Did you notice the little bird on his hat?

I assembled the card using a combo of double sided tape and dimensional adhesives. I wanted the images to be lifted slightly off the snowy background. Both image panels were embossed with the Stampin'-Up "softly falling" embossing folder.
Finished off my card by adding a few sequins. I thought this one would work for a masculine Christmas card. I send a few of those out to our single friends.

Well that's it for me for this post. Hope you have a great weekend. So until next time...…..God bless.

Mad Hatter Un-Birthday Cake

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

It's been a hectic week here. Pre-School is getting ready to start next Tuesday and I have been so busy getting the classroom ready, along with my bulletin board and lesson plans.

We had Welcome Night on Thursday for parents and students. So I also had to have their take home folders ready for that night. It all went well and school starts on Tuesday. It's only an hour and the parents stay since this is the kids first experience with school. Then on Thursday we have our first day without the parents. I have a fun week planned for the kids.

Anyway let's move onto my card for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the Mad Hatter Cake die to create an Un-Birthday card. In case you aren't familiar with the story of Alice in Wonderland, she attends an "Un-Birthday" party.

Alice at first doesn't realize what an un-birthday is; when the Mad Hatter explains it to her, she realizes it is her un-birthday as well, and receives an un-birthday cake from the Mad Hatter.  Everyone has one birthday a year so all the other days are your un-birthday! My friend's daughter loves everything with an "Alice" theme. So I think I am going to send this to her.

I used the sketch #765 from Splitcoaststampers. It would allow me to use designer paper and the center panel is perfect for my Mad Hatter cake image.
I looked through my designer papers for one that would fit with the fantasy world theme of Alice in Wonderland. I found this paper from the Stampin'-Up "playful palette" collection. I thought the quirky design would work. I used the coordinating cardstocks of black and sweet sugarplum for my card base and layering panel.

Black Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Sweet Sugarplum Layering Panel: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Designer Paper: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

I cut the cake image in sweet sugarplum, berry burst, peek-a-boo peach, dapper denim and emerald envy cardstocks.

Since I wanted this to be an Un-Birthday card, I had to get a bit creative with the sentiment. I used the Happy banner from the Festive Birthday Greeting die and then computer generated my Un-Birthday phrase.

To complete my card, I attached the black card base and scattered a few hearts for interest. Well, that's it for me for this post. For all of you out there not celebrating a birthday today, I share this day with all of you. I wish you a very merry, happy, lovely, silly and sweet un-birthday.
