Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. It's time again for the Creative Belli bi-weekly challenge #114.
This week we are asking you to "think seamtress" such as stitching, buttons, seam tape, sewing machine, dress form etc. You can create any project you like as long as it follows the theme.
Everyone is welcome to play along! Challenge a stamping friend!! I am challenging you to play along if you're reading this post.
If you upload to a gallery use keyword CBC114. Remember the spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments.
Drop by the creative belli blog and see what my design sisters have done with this challenge. Awesome work I tell you!! There is a link on my sidebar for each team members blog as well.
For my card I decided to do something more on the clean and simple side. I took one of my older nestability dies and embossed the shape onto my card front.
I wanted a frame for my buttons. I made the buttons with a Sizzix embosslit die and some Stampin-Up springtime vintage fabric. I used embroidery floss through the button holes.
I also cut a length of the fabric for some ribbon treatment. I ruched the ribbon to make it a little funky.
My thread image is from a stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers - the "sew what" collection. The sentiment is from the same set. I added 3 pearls to the corner and that completed my card.
I am also entering this into the challenge on the little red wagon blog. We are to create with fabric. I used fabric to make my buttons and my ribbon treatment is made from the same fabric.
Time to close this post so until next time.......
card recipe:
stamps: mfp sew what
paper: su vv,
ink: memento tuxedo black, rose red
accessories: su fabric, sizzlit emblssing die, label 4 netabilities, embroidery floss

true friend
Happy Tuesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Our temps are back to cold again. It was 17 degrees when I woke this morning.
Oh well, it is officially spring so sooner or later the temps are going to rise.
On the indoor front, I have an orchid that is starting to bloom again. This will be the third time for this plant. One of the flowers opened today and when I have a few more I will take some photos.
Well onto my card for today. I made this one for the color challenge on splitcoaststampers. Our hostess, Julia aka artystamper, chose some great spring colors this week.
She wants us to use baja breeze, marina mist and certainly celery. I had an image in mind so I went to work.
This cute bird is from whipper snapper designs. I used prismacolor pencils and gamsol from my coloring. The sentiment is from Stampin-Up's "punch bunch collection.
The layout was provided by the crazy for challenge blog. The hostess is Silke Ledlow and she provided a great sketch to work with.
My patterned paper is also from Stampin-Up, the parisian breeze collection. I used celery ribbon and cardstock on my middle cross panels. The butterflies are punched in marina mist wit ha Martha Stewart punch.
That completed this card. So unitl next time......
card recipe:
stamps: whipper snapper designs, punch bunch
paper: su baja breeze, certainly celery, parisian breeze dsp

Sew-what's new??
Happy Thursday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. It seems like winter is back with us again. It was so cold today. That's what we seemed to have had more of this winter than snow-very cold temperatures.
The afternoon storm yesterday destroyed our crocuses. I didn't get any photos of them and now its too late. We had hail and a tornado touched down east of where Thank the Lord that there were no lives lost. Property can always be repaired or replaced.
I went to the outlets today with my bff, Elaine. We found some great deals and reduced merchandise at all of the stores.
Well, the ones we had time to visit that is!! I picked up a few gifts that I needed and some things for me.. Overall it was just a good day for us to catch up on things and enjoy each others company.
Tonight I went to my Photoshop Elements class. I am learning how to use the program and I am so impressed with all this program can do for your photos.
So onto my card for today. I made this one for several challenges:
1. The color challenge on splitcoaststampers, where Betty Wright was our hostess, had us using regal rose, pear pizzazz and so saffron. I just loved this color combo.
2. The layout is this weeks mojomonday sketch #183. Julee provided such an awesome layout, that worked so well with the card I had in mind.
My image is from a set by Mark's Finest Papers. I stamped the dress form and then paper pieced the skirt.I used some patterned paper from Stampin-Up's retired "raspberry tart collection". I found it in my stash. I thought it worked well on this card.
The embossed rectangle panel is paper from K & Co also something I had in my stash. I made some wedding invites several years ago and this is some of the paper the bride chose.
I used a Martha Stewart lace doily border punch and some regal rose ribbon to complete this card. The sentiment on the inside reads " what's new with you". A cute play on the "sew' on the front of the card.
A few other challenges:
3. Delightful challenges blog wants us to use pastels and ribbons.
4. The rubber cafe blog wants us to use embossing on our card. One of my panels is embossed.
Well, it's time to dime the lights in charmed life land for another day. Until next time.......

Inspiration challenge 276
Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Wow, what a weather day we had here in Pittsburgh.
Severe thunderstorms, hail and a tornado warning darkened our skies right around 5:00.
The tornado touched down in an area east of the city causing damage but no serious injuries. Now tonight we are expected to have snow showers after 60 degree temps today. Erratic spring weather for sure!!
Tonight we went to a marriage seminar at church. It's a video series called "love and respect". I love the approach that this series takes. Women are motivated by love and respect most powerfully motivates a man. These two ingredients are the key to a successful marriage. It's a 5 week series and well worth the 90 minutes of your evening. So if it ever comes to your church don't hesitate to go.
My husband and I consider our marriage to be a good one. So why are we taking this course? Because we believe it's an enrichment to our marriage. You have to keep working at what's important to you.
So onto my card for today. This one I made for several challenges:
1. The inspiration challenge on splitcoaststampers this week took us to the Kirkland's site for our inspiration. I love to shop in this store. I knew I wouldn't have any trouble finding something to create a card.
This lamara spice pillow caught my eye right away. I thought the fabric looked just like some patterned paper from Stampin-Up's "elegant soiree" collection.
The sentiment is from Verve's "dream big" set. I used the Stampin-Up decorative label punch and added some daffodil delight seam binding. I added the offray ribbon flower to complete this card.
2. The for fun challenges blog wants us to make something with flowers and a sentiment as our focal point.
3. The freshly brewed blog wanted us to use 2 or more embellishments.
4. Lexi's creations challenge wants us to use ribbon but no bows.
Before I close this post, I wanted to thank Lisa Echerd from Lisa E's design blog for this awesome blog candy that I won several weeks ago. I made today's card for her as my way of saying thanks. If you have never visited, drop by her blog. She does some great work with cards & layouts.
Until next time.........

celebrate
Just yesterday I noticed the crocuses are blooming. I haven't taken any photos yet but I will. In fact, I want to take some and then use the photos as samples in my photoshop elements class on Thursday night.
Today, is a fun day for me. Well, I cay that because I will be going to meet my grandsons' school bus and spend a few hours with them.
I was talking to Ethan (our youngest) last night and he asked me to take him to the mall today. Not something that we usually do and when I asked him why, his response was that I haven't done anything with just him lately.
And, he wanted to spend some time with just him & I. Now wouldn't that just melt you heart??
So onto my card for today. This one I made for several challenges:
1. The pals paper arts blog had a sketch challenge last week. I love the sketches that Margaret Moody designs. They are always great to work into a card.
2. The crazy for challenges blog had a color challenge. I thought it was a great color choice by Silke Ledlow.
3. The incy wincy designs has an embossing challenge. I wet embossed my flower.
4. The Simon says stamp and show blog wants us to use "a word" on our card.
I used some retired Stampin-Up designer paper on this card. It's the berry bliss collection. My flower iamge is from Verve's "dream big" set. I stamped it and then stamped again to wet emboss the flower.
In the center I stamped another image in turquoise from a Stampology set. I recently won this set as blog candy from Lisa E's design blog.
I added some kraft taffeta ribbon to complete all the requirements of the color challenge. The celebrate sentiment is from Stampin-Up's "just celebrate set".
Have to close this post time so until next time........

sweet pea birthday
My hubby was off work and he had a the opportunity to work outdoors in his garden. Some of our neighbors were out as well. I suppose all the gardeners have been chomping at the bit to get out and start some clean-up and get the flower beds ready.
Me, well I was inside working on getting my digital photos in some sort of filing order and copied to an external hard drive. I made files by the year and put the photos in those files. I may make some Cd's but not sure I see the need since they will be on the hard drive.
That took me all day and then It was time to leave for my Photoshop Elements class. I am in my 5th week and I can say I have learned a lot about the program. It should help me with my blog photos of my cards.
Speaking of cards and the reason that you stopped by the blog. This one was made for the inspiration challenge #270 on splitcoaststampers. The inspiration site was the "uncommon goods". I chose the dottilicious wall art for my inspiration.
My patterned paper is a great match and is from Stampin-Up's "sweet pea collection. I just love this paper, added some cardstock rick rack cut from a die from my favorite things, a felt flower and button from Stampin-Up.
I punched out 2 of the circles from the designer paper and popped them up on foam squares for a little dimension.
The sentiment is from the Stampin-Up perfect punches set. I thought this would make a cute girls birthday card.
Some other challenges:
1. Meljen's desgins wants us to use dots on our projects.
2. The freshed brewed challenge is to use spots and dots.
3. Simon says stamp has a birthday challenge.
4. The top tip Tuesday blog also has a birthday challenge.
That's it for today. So until next time......

live laugh love
Hello again and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog.
We had a wonderful weekend with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter Phoenix Daisy. It was a quick visit but family time is so wonderful no matter how short it is.
On Friday night we had our extended family over for a visit so they could meet Phoenix Daisy. My son really enjoyed the time with his cousins, aunts & uncles.
The energy a baby brings into a home is incredible. Everything is so quiet and we are missing them already. But, I am going to visit with them over Easter. My other son and his family will be going as well. My grandsons are really looking forward to the trip.
Don't you just love this photo? I can't believe I have been blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren. God is so good!!
My card for today is one that I made for the splitcoaststampers color challenge. We were to use baja breeze (blue), soft suede(brown) and crumb cake (kraft). The colors were so soft and spring like that I decided to make a card that reflected spring.
My little silhouette girls are a stamp from Great Impressions. I used the Stampin-Up tulip embossing folder along with some patterned paper from Stampin-Up's springtime vintage collection.
I used some crumb cake taffeta ribbon and a fabric button all from Stampin-Up. The sentiment is from a set by Papertrey Ink. I won the set on Stephanie Kraft's blog a few months ago.
That completes my cad for today. One more thing before I sign off. I have a friend whose nephew was just found to have a tumor on his kidney. Please pray for Bryan. He is having a biopsy tomorrow.
Some other challenges:
1. The ABC Challenge wants us to use a quote or sentiment on our card.
2. The Creative Cottage challenge has a spring has sprung challenge.
3. Aly's Sunday challenge is sponsoring an anything goes challenge.
4. The Crafty Pad has a button challenge.
card recipe
stamps: great impressions, pti
paper: vv, baja breeze, soft suede, springtime vintage dsp
ink: soft suede
accessories: kraft taffeta ribbon, su sweet stitches button, oval punch, ms butterfly punch

watering can card
Driving was not fun and of course it was one of those days that I was out and about. I went to a cooking class at the Crate Cooking School. It's a local retail store and she conducts cooking classes as well.
This one was a demonstration class. It's the type that I prefer. The instructors prepare the food and we eat it. I have been to the hands on classes as well but I dont like them as well.
I like taking notes and watching what they do so when I am back in my kitchen I can re-create th meal we had. today it was: Roasted Eggplant Parmesan • Fennel Salad with Supremed Oranges • Dried Cherry and Pistachio Biscotti.
Everything was so yummy. I have never made biscotti and today I saw that it is pretty simple to prepare. I am definitely going to try it. I think I will make the eggplant and salad this weekend.
Because I have some special visitors. My sweet little Phoenix Daisy is coming to Pittsburgh to visit her Grandmother. I am so excited. It's been 2 months since we visited with Brett & Ghilly. They will only be staying until Monday but I will have them all for 3 full days. Fun-fun-fun!!
Here is a recent picture of Phoenix Daisy. It's her first pair of jeans. Too cute I tell you!!
So onto my card for today. I made this one for the technique challenge on splitcoaststampers. We were to make an odd shaped card. I remembered this temple that I had for a watering can. It is from Waltzingmouse stamps.
I printed it on cardstock 2x and then cut it out. I used rose red cardstock and a matching designer paper. The flower is a new Stampin-Up Sizzix die - fun flowers.
I cut it from the rose red cardstock and the designer paper is from Stampin-Up's "cutie pie" collection.
My butterfly is a spellbinders die and I used the same designer paper.
On the handle & spout I used the cuttlebug dots embossing folder.
That completed this card.
Other challenges:
1. ABC Challenge has a "p" is for pearls challenge. I used pearls on my butterfly.
2. Craft your passion blog has an anything goes challenge.

stamping in time challenge
Happy Sunday everyone and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Well I joked yesterday about all the rain we had and guess what?? It turned to snow by morning. The freezing rain started first and woke us up about 6:45 am because it was hitting our windows.
That continued until 8:00 am and then it changed over to snow. The roads in my community were messy to say the least. It was a Sunday morning and the salt trucks just weren't out as yet. I think I may have considered staying home from church but today was our pancake breakfast and I was helping to run it.
Intersting enough when I was out of my community all the nearby communites roads were just wet. I guess theirsalt trucks were out ealry or they didn't get any of the freezing rain. So I am glad that I didnt stay home. Because I would have missed a great service not to mention the breakfast afterwards.
So onto this card. I made a Christmas card. i know I know it's march and i should be thinking about flowers. But, my paper doll friend, Betty Wright is hosting a challenge on Our Daily Bread Designs blog. It's her stamping in time challenge and she wants us to make a Christmas card. This way we get our cards started for 2011.
I am all for that. I said last year I was going to get involved in challenges where I could make my Christmas cards throughout the year. That way I am not stressing in December that they are not finished. I make at least 60 cards to mail.
Card details: I used the ODBD set "worship the Lord". I really like this little church. I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I used some flower soft "polar white" on the snow areas. I don't think it shows up in the picture real well but in real life it looks like flaky snow.
My background paper is from Stampin-Up's "deck the halls" Christmas collection. I also used cherry cobbler paper & seam binding. I cut a frame from the spellbinders labels 2 die. I like the look it gave my card.
The layout for the card is the mojo180 sketch . Julee really gave a great sketch for us. Of course, I think I say that about all her sketches. I chose the square layout-my card is 5 x 5.
Other challenges:
1. The die cut dreams Christmas club wanted us to make a card inspired by a Cristmas carol. My little red country church reminds me of the song: "ding dong merrily on high". The lyrics talk about the church bells ringing from the steeples.
2. Aly's Sunday challenge is an anything goes.
3. The crafty pad blog wants us to use ribbon on our card.
Well, time to wrap up this post. So until next time.......
card recipe:
stamps: odbd worhsip the Lord
paper: su cherry cobbler, gina k white
ink: memento black, cherry cobler
accessories: nesties, seam binding, white ribbon, border punch snowflake button, flower soft

So until next time.......
card recipe:

paper: su cherry cobbler, gina k white
ink: memento black, cherry cobler

inspiration challenge #274
Happy Saturday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Rain, rain and more rain was the order of the day. One of those days when it would be fun to curl up in front of the fireplace and read or watch TV with a nice cup of tea. But, I didn't do that. I just said it would be nice!!
I made a card early in the morning before I had to run out for some church related stuff.
I had a women's meeting at church. We are kicking off a new year for women's ministry, and we had a planning meeting. Then we did a bit of prep work for the pancake breakfast we are having after church. And, it was still raining.
Early evening we got together with our good friends and had some pizza. It was a fun evening of chatting and catching up on our lives. We left about 10:00 to head home, and it was still raining.
I am typing this blog post in bed with my husband just dozing off into never ever land. How can you type quietly so as not to disturb someone? I am not sure how but it seems to be working since he first complained and then promptly fell asleep (lol)!!!
I made this card for 4 challenges:
1. The Saturday inspiration challlenge at splitcoaststampers, hosted by Stef, took us to the Cath Kidston site. It was filled with plenty of inspiration for card makers. When I came across this fabric, I knew I found my inspiration.
It reminded me of the new vintage springtime paper from Stampin-Up. I had a lamp template that I downloaded a month ago from Paper-Crafts magazine. It was in their Jan-Feb issue and the template is free. I knew I could use the designer paper on the lamp and create a vintage card.
2. The 2nd challenge was one that Verve Stamps was hosting. They called it the Verve fan blog hop.
All you had to do was make a new card and use at least one Verve stamp. I just found out about this last night so I had to hurry this morning and get my card finished by 12:00 pm. Mission accomplished I might add.
I used the flower from the Verve set "great friend". I stamped it -cut it out and popped it up for dimension. I added a brad to the center from Stampin-Up's fabric sweet stitches collection.
3. The creative inspirations challenge blog wanted us to use a template for our projects. I am all over this challenge with my lamp template.
4. The catch the bug challenge has an anything goes.
That completed my card and this post. Oh yes, and it is still raining!!
card recipe:
stamps: great friend (verve)
paper: su vv, rose red, springtime vintage dsp
ink: rose red
accessories: sweet stitches fabric brad, ms lace doily punch

Feel Better Quinn
Happy Thursday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Well we had the sun that was called for today. You might wonder why I am making a big deal out of sun. Here in Pittsburgh we don't get much sun in the winter months. So to have the sun shining 3 days in a row is glorious.
It put me in the mood for crafting. Well the snow, rain and sleet put me in the mood for crafting as well (lol)!!! I wanted to make a card for 6 year old Quinn. He is the nephew of my daughter-in-law. He was just diagnosed with diabetes. He was released from the hospital yesterday after a 5 day stay.
I had this sweet turtle image (Inky Antics) and he has never seen ink. I have been coloring images today. Practicing with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol (odorless mineral spirits). I am thinking about taking a class at the end of the month. I want to get better using this medium to color. So practice is what it takes.
I checked out the Wednesday & Thursday challenges on splitcoaststampers and from there had my layout and the theme of my card.
Kim Hughes, the Thursday hostess, wanted us to use polka dots on our card. I have lots of paper with polka dots so I just needed to select some.
My background paper is from Bo Bunny the Sophia dots collection. The blue dotted paper is from Stampin-Up's "marina mist collection".
I stamped clouds (amuse stamps) and grass(amuse stamps) along with the turtle. I personalized the card by stamping a "Q" on the balloon for Quinn.
Added some balloon buttons and that completed my card. The 3 buttons on my card also let me enter this in the Stampin Sisters for Christ challenge. They have a great reflection on Psalm 9 on their blog this week. Check it out.
card recipe: Stamps: inky antics, amuse
paper: su marina, gina k white, bo bunny dsp, su dsp
ink: marina mist
accessories: balloon buttons, prismas & gamsol

Worship the Lord
Hello again and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog.
Well, we have had sunshine for the past 2 days and another sunny day tomorrow. But, it's still pretty cold. Although it's bearable when the sun is out.
After our staff meeting at church this morning, I went for a haircut. I always have such great conversations with my stylist, Toni. And, she does a great job on my hair.
I did some practicing this afternoon with my prismacolor pencils I want to get better with this medium and it takes practice. I may take a class later this month at one of our local stores. I didnt use any pencils on this card though.
My card for today is one that I made for the challenge on "our daily bread designs". They had such a great layout to work with this week.
The colors on my card are from the Tuesday color challenge on splitcoaststampers.
Julia Aston, was our hostess, and she chose the beautiful colors of rose red, marina mist and certainly celery.
I decided to play up the marina mist (blue) and use the rose red and celery in a minor way.
I made my own background with a music score stamp. I stamped this several times in marina mist.
My sentiment is from the ODBD set "worship the Lord". I cut it out with the labels 4 nestability die.
The Stampin-Up 2 step bird punch and a flower punch were used to complete my card.
Other challenges:
1. Baby Bud designs blog has a ribbon & bows challenge.
2. Top Tip Tuesday blog wants us to use ourfavorite embellishment or technique. I love ribbon and the nesties dies.
3. The Stampin B's challenge #100 wants us to use something music related on our card
card recipe:
stamps: odbd-worship the lord, american art stamps -ripped music
paper: su marina mist, ww, rose red
ink: marina mist
accessories: nesties labels 4, marina mist ribbon, mcgill flower punch, su 2 step bird punch, celery brads

creative belli challenge #112
Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog.
It's time for another Creative Belli challenge. The spirit of the Belli challenges is to encourage you to use your OLD and FORGOTTEN embellishments!
Our challenge is about animals or creatures that come out of hibernation. You can use stamps, chipboard, punch art of animals etc
You can create any project you like as long as it follows the theme.
Everyone is welcome to play along! Here's how to enter:
**Please link back to the Belli Challenge in your post** and provide a DIRECT LINK to your new posting dated between March 2nd ~ March 15th.
My card uses a number of elements that will be coming out of "hibernation" soon. I started with some designer paper from my stash. It's from my littleshoe box "life in slow motion" collection. I thought it showed what I was trying to accomplish with my card & sentiment.
Birds are singing-flowers are growing-ladybugs & butterflies are back. I used an old glitter rub-on butterfly. I cut it out and popped up for some dimension.
The ladybugs & purple butterfly are buttons from my stash. I bought them from QVC years ago. The sentiment is computer generated and is a scripture verse from the Song of Solomon. I thought it described where my creative thought process was going with this challenge.
Drop by the Creative Belli Blog and take a peek at what the rest of my design team sisters have created. You will find some great inspiration.
Some other challenges:
1. This is also for the challenge on the oldie but a goodie blog. They have a spring is in the air challenge.
2. The Bunny Zoe's Crafts blog has a spring flowers everywhere challenge.
Until next time......
card recipe:
paper: su kraft, naturals ivory, little shoebox dsp
accessories: oval punches, yellow rick rack, rub-on, buttons
