A happy hello

Happy Sunday and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog.
We had a great service at church today.

Our worship team did an exceptional job. Our lead singer, Courtney, sounded like a songbird. It was so inspiring to hear her awesome voice.

The message from our Pastor was a great one as well. He was preaching today from Genesis 32. The passage where Jacob wrestled with God. We have a destiny as sons & daughters of God. There are keys that unlock our future, but it hinges on not letting go of God.

We aren't hopeless or walk alone. Our help comes from the Lord and him alone; not our job, our investments, or our talent. We need to look up, our help is in the God of the universe.

Whew, just typing my thoughts on the sermon inspired me all over again. What happened in your church today? Let me know.

Now onto my card for today. It covers 2 challenges:

1.  The featured stamper challenge on splitcoaststampers gave honor to Nikki Schmaltz, a stamper that I wasn't familiar with. I hadn't seen her work before today. She is one talented stamper that's for sure. So how this challenge works is that you look over her work and find a card to recreate.  You are to make at least two changes to the card.

I chose this card to remake ala Mary Marsh style. I kept her flower theme but used a sizzix die to cut mine and added a rhinestone instead of a button.

She used her designer paper for the flower stems and I cut mine from another sizzix die- the nesting swirls.

Instead of the bird I punched some butter flies. I kept the scalloped border but made mine a double layer. I added black rick rack for my ribbon treatment. My sentiment I decided to cut into an oval shape.

2.  The colors for my card were from this weeks color throwdown. This is a new challenge for me. My paper doll friend,, Wanda Cullen, was named a guest designer for June and so I decided to try my hand at this challenge.
Congrats again Wanda, you are an extraordinary talent!!

We were to use turquoise, pink passion, green galore and black. I really liked these bright colors. They are so perfect for flowers and that's how I used them on my card.

Well, my blogger friends it's time to put the wraps on this post. God bless!!

card recipe:

  1. Your card is lovely, Mary! First, I love that Wanda is your Paper Doll Friend---what a great name for your group! Second, I appreciate your sharing of your sermon today. I constantly need to remind myself that ALL things are controlled by God; so even when things are not going as we had planned, that is under God's control too! Third, I love what you did with the CTD colors; your flowers are vibrant, just what I had in mind when I chose the palette! Thanks so much for sharing and playing!

  2. Thanks so much for your kind words, Mary! I commented on SCS, but wanted to say again how much I love your card! These neon colors just really pop against the black BG! We had a wonderful message today based on the thought: When God is your guide, any road is good! His text was from Acts 20:13-38. Here's a link to our church's web site that is created by Pastor Brett. He has his sermons in more detail on this site along with some history about Mennonites.
