Bunnies with a Balloon

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this last Saturday in March.

Hope you are all safe and making it through these times. We are ok at my home. Abiding by our governor's stay at home order. To get out of the house for a bit I have been walking my neighborhood.
Also experimenting in my kitchen with different recipes. That's been fun. I am being careful now to use all of what I make. Don't want to be throwing any food away. I don't usually waste food But now I am using every last bit.

To relax and take my mind off the situation, besides cooking, I have been spending time in my craft room. It's my haven. So here is what I have to show you today.

This card I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the new Backside Bunnies die. I saw a challenge over on Splitcoaststampers titled "looking up" and I immediately thought of these bunnies.

For my layout, I used the current MojoMonday sketch #533.The horizontal panel was perfect for displaying the bunny images.

I looked for some spring like designer paper in my collection and found this sheet from BoBunny in my collection. So I coordinated it with Stampin'-Up gorgeous grape & pear pizzazz cardstocks. I used the dimensions given for the panels except for my card base and designer paper layer. I made that slightly larger. For the center rectangle panel I decided to use ribbon.

gorgeous grape card base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
designer paper layer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
white rectangle panel: I used the 3rd largest
pierced rectangle die.
Since the bunnies are outside watching their floating bunny balloon, I decided to sponge in some clouds and grass using distress inks.
Now that my card elements are cut and prepped I am ready to start card assembly. I attached the ribbon to the designer paper. And, then attached that to the card base using double sided tape. Embossed panel is attached with the same adhesive.
I attached the bunnies to the sponged panel with double sided tape and stamped my Easter sentiment. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig for placement since this stamp is a red rubber stamp.
To finish off my card, I added some white enamel dots. It's one of my fave embellishements and I like the look they add to a card.

Well, that's it for me for this post. Stay safe and until next time.........God bless.

Basket of Eggs

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Today was such a beautiful day here in Pittsburgh. Even though we are still under the "stay at home" order when it's sunny and warm it always makes things seem better. I walked my neighborhood for about an hour. We are allowed out to exercise.

Then for dinner I made some potato-leek soup. Found the recipe on the Food Network site and it was so delicious. Here is a link to the recipe, if you are interested. I served it with a garnish of Applewood smoked bacon and homemade croutons. My hubby really enjoyed it.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for the color challenge #782 on Splitcoaststampers. Jeanne was the hostess and she chose calypso coral, daffodil delight and seaside spray for her color trio. Optional was to use washi tape.
calypso coral, daffodil delight, seaside spray
I started my card by creating the background with some wide watercolor strokes washi tape from Altenew. It had the challenge colors. I also added some daffodil delight ribbon on the left side of the card.
My image is the new Basket of Eggs die from CottageCutz to create my card. Cut the eggs in the challenge colors and the basket in a neutral shade. The Easter phrase is cut in calypso coral.
To finish off my card I stamped some splatters in calypso coral ink and scattered a few calypso coral enamel dots. Another Easter card finished. I am going to send more cards out this year since we probably won't be celebrating Easter with family or even be in church. I think a card will be a welcome gift to my family and friends.

Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time...….God bless.

You're a Great Reason to Celebrate

Hello Blogger Friends. Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

I am trying to make the best of the current situation with the pandemic. Our Preschool will be closed until April 14 at least. So with no class prep, I am using the time to get things caught up around my home.

I am always scurrying this time of year to get everything ready for income tax filing. Now the deadline has been pushed back 3 months but I don't intend to wait that long. I am almost caught up with everything from 2019 and will be ready to get the taxes done.

I have been crafting but not as much as I would like. There are other things that have to take priority right now. But, being in my craft room is relaxing and takes my mind off what's happening in the world.

So here are some details on this card. I created it for color challenge #780 on Splitcoaststampers. Chris was the hostess and she chose rich razzleberry, old olive and pretty peacock for her color trio.
rich razzleberry, pretty peacock, old olive
When Chris picked these colors I didn't have an idea in mind for my card. Then what shows up in my mailbox but my Stampin'-Up Paper Pumpkin kit, and Chris' colors were in there. Whoo-hoo!
The bold floral image and leaves are a die cut from the kit. The white scalloped background came with some old olive ink smudges and splatters already on it.
I stamped my sentiment in pretty peacock ink to cover that color. And, to finish off the card, I scattered a few rich razzleberry enamel dots. They are from my stash.

Well that's it for me for this post. So until next time...…..God bless.

Party at Penguin's Igloo

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog today.

Hope you are doing okay as we enter our 2nd week of the corona virus pandemic.  Preschool is out and at this point I am not sure how long that will be.

Some of the school districts have extended their time off to May 1. We were out for 2 weeks and this is starting the 2nd week. It doesn't seem like we will be back next week but that is up to the government officials to decide.

Our church has gone to live streaming the service. There were 5 people there as part of the worship team and our Pastor to preach the sermon. It was different not being in church on Sunday morning but these are different times for sure.

Since I have time on my hands now, I want to post more often on my neglected Blog. I have been creating just not posting regularly. This one I made for the color challenge #774 on Splitcoaststampers and also for my niece's birthday. She loves penguins. Chris was the hostess and she chose blueberry bushel, balmy blue and whisper white for her color trio. Optional was to create a sky.
blueberry bushel, balmy blue, whisper white
My card started with my designer paper. It's from the Stampin'-Up "feels like frost" collection. It had all the challenge colors so it was perfect. And, because it is winter themed it would also work for my penguin and igloo images.

The die is from the CottageCutz "Artic Animals" collection. The sentiment is pat of the bitty birthday wishes set from MFT.

Well that's it for me for this post. Until next time...…..God bless.

Juggling Spring Bunny

Hello Blogger taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this Saturday in March.

We are in the midst of the corona-virus pandemic and there are so many shutdowns and businesses that have been ordered to close. Our government officials are attempting to flatten the curve of the spread. I have been off Preschool for a week now. Using the time to get caught up on things around my house and also crafting.

Hubby & I  are trying to limit the exposure to the news because of all the fear that the media instills. We are spending more time reading our  Bibles and praying. Scripture says the Lord is near to all who call upon Him. He can bring peace in the middle of the storm.

Now onto my card for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the new Juggling Spring Bunny to create my card.

The card layout is this week's sketch #793 on Splitcoaststampers. It is a bit different but I thought it would work to showcase the bunny and also allow the use of designer paper.
I wanted a fun background paper for the bunny and chose this one from my collection. I thought the pattern would be broken up enough with the 2 half circles of the sketch.

Rich Razzleberry Card Base: 41/4" x 5 1/2"
Designer Paper: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Circle & Stitched Circle dies: 5 & 6th largest
Element 4 of sketch: 5/8" - used bermuda bay cardstock

Next, I cut the bunny and eggs in cardstock colors to match the designer paper.
I decided to use a punny sentiment and stamped in rich razzleberry ink. I had this really cute one from a Lawn Fawn Easter set.
To complete my card, I attached the bunny and added a few Bermuda bay enamel dots. And, it's another Easter card finished. This one will go off to one of my Preschool students.
I have decided to send more cards this year. I think it will help brighten someone's spirits to receive some happy mail, especially with all that's going on.
Well, that's it for me for this post. So until next time...…..God bless.

Easter Cottage

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with The Charmed Life Blog this first Saturday in March.

I have been sick with a cold for a week. I helped my next door neighbor out when she was sick with this same thing, and I caught what she had. Then we have had contractors here working in our house so I just wasn't able to get the rest I needed for recovery. Well, last night I went to bed at 9:00 and work up at 9:00 this morning. I am feeling so much better and will be glad to put this behind me.

I have so much to get caught up on today and now I have the energy to do it. My craft room being the biggest thing. It just seems like I can't stay ahead of things in there. But, I guess every crafter goes through the same thing. You clean- then craft- room turns to a mess- then the cycle starts over again (LOL)!!! I need to get moving because tonight we turn the clocks ahead 1 hour. Losing an hour sleep always messes with me. So I am going to try to get to bed earlier.

Well, anyway let's move onto my card for today. This one I created for my weekly DT post on the CottageCutz Blog. I used the new Spring Cottage die to create this fun Easter card.

Design Steps:

I found a watercolored designer paper that I decided to use for the cottage background. I liked the light shades of blue. I cut it using the largest of the Stitched Scallop Rectangle set. I selected Stampin'-Up highland heather cardstock for a layering panel  and the card base is purple posy.

Light purple card base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/4"
Medium Purple Layering Panel: 3 3/4" x 4 3/4"
Designer Paper Layer: 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Next, I cut the cottage elements. I used various spring like colors. All cardstock is from Stampin'-Up.
Stamped my sentiment directly on the designer paper. It's an Easter set from Lawn Fawn.
Now that all the card elements are prepared, I am ready to start card assembly. Used double sided tape to secure the die cut images to the designer paper. Then I layered the image panel onto the highland heather background.
I finished off my card by attaching the card base. Well, that's it for me for this post. Enjoy your weekend. It's going to be a warm one here so I hope to get a little outside time. So until next time...…..God bless.
