Masculine Birthday

Hello Blogger friends!! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Well, fall has officially arrived. It will be the end of our growing season soon. No more flowers or fresh veggies- enter sad face here!!

Although we did have quite a harvest from our vegetable garden. Tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, onions, leeks, eggplant, carrots, green peppers as well as all the herbs.

Today, I am going to can the tomatoes. I have made salsa before but never a tomato sauce. I found a recipe on the Ball website that I will use.
Last week I put up 13 jars of pear butter. I will give some as a little Christmas gift with a loaf of pumpkin bread. People always appreciate homemade gifts, I think.
pear butter
It is such a delicious recipe with the added cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves, apple cider and brown sugar. My hubby really likes it as well as anyone I have given it to. We have a friend with several pear trees and he invited us to come over and pick all that we wanted.
So the hubs picked two - 5 gallon buckets and then went yesterday and picked some more. I am thinking about making more of the jam but that's after I finish my tomatoes.

Now, onto today's card. This one I made for my son for his birthday. I forgot to take a photo of it at home so I took it over at his home with my I-Phone. I went outside but I think it looks okay.

It is a Stampin-Up mainly card. I used a few Spellbinder dies to cut my frame and oval. I really like how it turned out. My inspiration came from this card I saw on Becky Roberts Blog. I just changed the ribbon to black on my card.

I used the Stampin-Up set - "see ya later" and my designer paper is from the
kaleidoscope collection. For the candles I cut a small piece of paper and rolled it around a pencil then used glue dots to secure it.

The candle flame is punched using the Stampin-Up bird builder punch. This is the wing. It makes a perfect flame. Then to make it sparkle, I used dazzling diamonds glitter.

Well, that's it for me for this post. Time to get into my kitchen and start my tomato processing. So until next time.......God bless.

  8. Super card Mary! I will be casing it for sure! I remember the days of canning. Peaches were my favorite. Don't do any canning now. Someone "borrowed" my pressure canner, lol!
