Because I Care

Happy Thursday everyone and thanks for taking the time to visit the charmed life blog. Another beautiful fall day here in Pittsburgh with lots of sunshine.

We had snow last Saturday. It was just a dusting but nonetheless snow. We weren't here but my neighbor took pictures and emailed them to me.

I mention this because before we left for San Francisco our dahlias were still in bloom. It was the last of our summer bounty.

Do you believe that my husband just cut 5 flowers and brought them in today. they survived the snow. It's the last of them until next year.  I didnt take any photos maybe I will do that for tomorrow's post.

Ok so onto my card for today. This one I made for the "ways to use it" challenge on splitcoaststampers. Toni was our hostess and she wanted us to use newsprint on our cards. I have seen it done many times but I have never used it before.

I scoured the newspaper looking for an article to spark my creativity. I found this one on breast cancer and it was in color. I am still making cards for the "hope you can cling to" challenges. This challenge was to use different size shapes.

For my layout I used the sketch #213 from the MojoMonday blog.  we could make either a round or square card. I chose the square one this time around.

I pulled out my spellbinders circle dies, my stampin-up oval punches and I cut the rectangle myself. So I was good for the hycct challenge.

My patterned paper is from American Crafts. My sentiment is from Stampin-Up's "because I care" set.
The felt flower is from Pebbles and my butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch. I added some brown pearls to the corners and the sentiment panel to complete my card.

And that my friends also completes this blog post. So unti lnext time..........God bless.

  1. Lucky you Mary to be able to grow dahlias. They cant survive here in the desert. Love the newspaper print with the felt flower and butterflies!

  2. Beautiful, Mary! I love the colors and the polka dot DSP! The newsprint is perfect, and the Because I Care sentiment coordinates so well with it. The butterflies with their bling and the felt flower are the perfect touches! This is a fantastic card!

  3. What a pretty card. I certainly love your layout. OMG, the snow looks so pretty. Coming from Hawaii, I'd freeze in that cold. I have my socks and sweats on when the temp. dips in the lower 60's. Such a whimp. Ha-ha. TFS

  5. Pretty card with a nice combo of different textures. We had our first big frosts this week so the flowers are now all gone. Still have lots of leaves though.

  10. Hi Mary~
Love your blog layout, it is really pretty... You really have some awesome creativity going on with your blog.... I'm just amazed with all the beautiful cards that you made... I really enjoy that pic of the snow in your bkyard... Wow that is totally awesome.... We have snow here at least maybe twice a year but it's way high up on elevation and it snows on Mauna Kea & Mauna Loa when we have heavy heavy rains....
TFS... I'm also your newest follower and guess what I will be 99 and you're almost their to reach you 100!
