HYCCT1429 ~Grateful~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog this thanksgiving weekend. Hope your celebration was a great one.

We had a wonderful time with family and lots of delicious food. I spent a couple of days in prep work for the feast and all day in the kitchen on Thanksgiving. But, it was so worth it to be able to bless my family. And, all of them are so appreciative of the time we have together as well as the fabulous dinner they are served.

Now, the Christmas rush will begin. I have done lots of shopping already and I was out on Black Friday. I don't mind the crowds and there are lots of deals to be found.

For my card today, I am showing one last thanksgiving card. The word on this sums up how I feel about my family. So grateful for each one of them.

On this card I used the Stampin-Up set "fantastic foliage" and stamped a leaf background with cajun craze and wild honey inks.

I used the Cuttlebug folder "autumn type" for my middle panel. The "grateful" word is cut from the PTI "count your blessings" die in cajun craze and choc chip card stock.

The maple leaf is cut from a Spellbinders die and I sponged these distress inks over it-peeled paint, fired brick, rusty hinge and wild honey. I rubbed some Versamark over that and then used clear embossing powder and embossed it. IRL it is really shiny. I like the way it turned out. I saw this technique used by Kittie747 on her blog.

Finished my card by adding some peach parfait ribbon. That's my card for this today. It's late and time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time .......God bless.

card details:
Stamps: fantastic foliage (Stampin-Up)
Paper: peach parfait, choc chip, cajun craze, ww, Paper Size: A2
Ink: cajun craze, wild honey, peeled paint, fired brick, rusty hinge

Card Concept Challenge - Make a Tag

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. We are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving here at the Marsh household. I have a big dinner planned for tomorrow and lots of family coming to enjoy it.

It's time for another Card Concept Challenge. This time around its all about a snowman and we are asking you to make a tag.

Here is an inspiration photo to help in creating your tag.

And, for this challenge the team is also part of Tracey McNeely's 25 days of Christmas tags. Thank you for having us Tracey!  There are prizes to be won with this challenge so make sure you leave a comment here and on the other designers blogs.

When I looked at the inspiration photo I saw the snowman (of course) and his big arms reminded me of birch tress. So that's the direction I took.

My tag started with teal cardstock and I die cut some Memory Box birch trees.  Added a few red birds to the trees for a little contrast and interest.

I die cut some snow banks with the PaperTrey Ink "in the meadow" die set and added chunky glitter. My cute little snowman image is a stamp from Your Next Stamp. I colored him with Copic Markers and fussy cut.

To complete the tag I die cut the "merry" word and added some red ribbon and silver cording.  The sentiment and die are from Paper Trey Ink - "holiday words" collection.

Well that's it for me for today. So don't forget to leave a comment here because I will be picking one comment for another chance to win the fabulous prizes that Tracey is offering.

Here is a link to Tracey's blog post  where she explains how you can win one of the prizes she is offering. Lots of chances to win so don't pass this up.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

HYCCT1425 ~just saying hello~

Hello Blogger Friends and a good Saturday morning to you. It's the start of the Thanksgiving rush for me. Today my plan is to go and do my food shopping for the big day.

I am also still trying to get my house back in order after the bedroom painting and rearranging of another room. We have an old 36" television that has presented a problem getting it downstairs.
It is extremely heavy and the first attempt at bringing it down didn't work. So it is sitting in one of the spare bedrooms and I am more than anxious to get rid of it. Hopefully, it will happen in the next couple of days.

My neighbor also asked me to make her wedding invitations. And, today is our first meeting to get something together. The wedding is next October and I won't be starting them until after the holidays. But, I would like to get an idea of what she is after as far as a design.

So that's the layout of my day. Hope you have something fun planned on this pre-thanksgiving weekend. Let me know in your comment.

Now onto my card for today. This is another one of the cards that I created for the Splitcoaststampers HYCCT challenges. Kelli Jo was the hostess for the HYCCT1425 challenge. She asked us to create a card using the Bokeh Technique.

I have seen lots of cards in blog land using this technique but have never done it myself. I looked at several tutorials but in the end I just did my own thing. I like how it turned out.

Here is a video tutorial from Lydia over at Splitcoaststampers. My card is very loosely based on what she did.

I used coastal cabana ink and both Stampin-Up and Dylusions dot stencils to create the background. I used sponge daubers and let the ink get very light before I re-inked the dauber.

My butterfly is cut from an Elizabeth Crafts die. The sentiment is a stamp set that a friend of mine gave me but it has no company name on it (?).

Well, that's my card for today. Time to get a start on my day. So until next time.......God bless.

card details:
Paper: whisper white, coastal cabana, fresh prints dsp (Stampin-Up)
Paper Size: A2 Ink: coastal cabana
Accessories: sponge dauber, SU & Dylusions dot stencils

HYCCT1414 ~in the meadow~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I have been busy this week with Pre-School and I had some dental work done.

Well, the dental work was actually the beginning of an implant. I had a tooth pulled about 3 months ago. I can't believe the meds you take before the work and then an antibiotic afterwards.

The surgeon puts a titanium rod into your bone and then you visit your dentist to get the actual tooth. The pain afterwards was minimal and controlled by medication but it was all good the next day. It is a bit pricey to have an implant done and I am thankful that I have dental insurance.

Last night we went to the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh for a performance of White Christmas. It was a very upbeat musical with lots of dancing. We enjoyed it a lot. It was our anniversary gift to each other. If the show comes to your area, I would recommend it.

Now onto my card for today. Time to start showing Christmas cards. This one is a side step card. My local stamp store carries these already cut step cards and you just have to decorate them the way you want.

They are sold by a company called "The Paper Cut" in case you are looking for them. So much easier for me than trying to make the cuts for the side steps yourself.

Although , now I have also seen a die from Sizzix that will make this cut also.

This was the card I made for Kim's HYCCT1414 challenge. She wanted us to create a side step card.

For my card I used dies from PaperTrey Ink "in the meadow" collection and the matching stamp set. The designer paper is from Stampin-Up's "winter frost" collection.

That's my card for today. Time to get ready to go to the gym. I meet up with my exercise group today. Although there will only be 2 of us but that's okay. At least I am getting my routine in to keep off the weight I lost earlier this year.

So until next time........God bless.

card details:
Stamps: in the meadow (PTI)
Paper: WW, coastal cabana, island indigo, smoky slate, winter frost speciality dsp (Stampin-Up) Ink: island indigo Techniques: side step card

HYCCT1424 ~Hi~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Our day today was a bit busy but a good one of being with family.

We went to watch our youngest grandson play his first basketball game of the season. They lost but it was fun seeing him run up and down the court.

Then after the game we went to the carpet store to take a 2nd look at a new area rug for our dining room. My hubby liked it and we ended up buying it. I cant wait to get it down and move the existing one to one of our spare bedrooms.

My mother-in-law has been sick with bronchitis and she has been bed ridden. My hubby's family has been taking turns to make her dinner and spend the night with her. She is turning the corner and her appetite has returned. I made her some beef stew, and we took it over and had dinner with her. She really enjoyed it and said it was the best she ever tasted. That is quite a compliment from a mother-in-law to a daughter-in-law, I would say.

Now onto the card I am showing today. I made this one for Robin's HYCCT1424 challenge.  She wants us to use any kind of resist technique. I chose the wax paper resist technique. Here is a link to the tutorial I used.

For the embossing, I used the Cuttlebug "floral fantasy" embossing folder and embossed my wax paper and then I placed it between my sheets of glossy cardstock to iron.

I then took my Ranger mini ink blending tool and peacock feathers distress ink and rubbed it into the glossy cardstock.  I really like how the background turned out.

I paired it with calypso coral cardstock and ribbon. My flowers are cut from the Memory Box Chloe die. My "hi" word is a die from the MFT "happy hellos" set.

Sent this card off to my daughter-in-law for her birthday. It's coming up this Tuesday. The happy birthday words are stamped inside the card.

Well, that's about it for today. So until next time.........God bless.

card details:
Paper: bermuda bay, whisper white, calypso coral,  Kromekote glossy paper

HYCCT1423 ~friends were flowers~

Hello Blogger friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. Hope you are all staying warm. It was cold and windy here today in Pittsburgh. But no snow like they had in the Northeast part of our state.

We are in the process of setting up one of the spare bedrooms as my stamping room. Wow so much work. We had our desktop computer in another bedroom and that had to be moved. That bedroom is in the process of being painted. I feel like my upstairs is a total mess. We have stuff in all 4 bedrooms. I don't like the disorder so hopefully we will have some of this straightened out soon.

I have a temporary setup in my new stamp room. Meaning that I put a portable table up there and I made a card in the room the other day. Although all my supplies are done in our basement on shelves. So I now walk down 2 flights of stairs to get what I need. The exercise is good. But it will be nice to have everything in one place when I create.

I have to move on to my card for today. Just thinking and talking about all that has to be done can get overwhelming. This one I created for the HYCCTT1423 challenge. Debbi is our hostess and she wants us to use tissue paper on our card.

I made a tissue flower with the Stampin-Up scallop punch and the beautiful blue tissue came from a Verve order. My products were wrapped in it.

Cardstock and designer paper are all Stampin-Up. Designer Paper is from the "all abloom" collection. My paper bow is a die made from the Blueprints 3 collection from MFT. The doily is also a die from MFT.

Sentiment is from the Verve set "dream big". I stamped in strawberry slush ink. To complete my card I added a butterfly made wit ha Martha Stewart punch.

That's my card for today. It's late and time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time.....God bless.

Card Concept Challenge #23

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. We are getting ready for some cold temps starting today and possibly snow on the ground this weekend. That is perfect weather to stay inside and get crafty.

It's time for another Card Concept Challenge. This time around we are giving you a chance to add to your Christmas card stash. Or to start if you are behind like me (lol)!!

Here is an inspiration photo to help in creating your card.

As part of the Wild Card Team I was able to select the style I wanted to create my card. This one I am calling classy and elegant. I picked up on the kraft, red and snowflake elements to create my card.

For my background I used a snowflake swirl embossing folder. I sponged some white ink over the embossing for a softer look. My snowflake was stamped in a kraft ink on white card stock. I added some red dots to highlight it a bit.

To finish up my card, I die cut the "Christmas Blessings" words in red cardstock. This will be an easy one to make 10 more.

Hope you can play along with our fun Card Concept Challenge this time. The rules are fairly simple.

You have different card styles to choose from to help you create your card. The styles are defined here,  There are lots of samples from the rest of the Design Team, and you have the inspiration photo. All that's needed is your card!!

Until next time........God bless.

ink: crumb cake (Stampin-Up), white (Memories)
paper: white, kraft, cherry cobbler

HYCCT1406 ~bear party~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. We are celebrating Veteran's Day here in the U.S.
So a big thank you to all the active and retired military from my family to you for your service. We realize we have the freedoms we do because of your service.

Now onto my card for today. This is another that I made for 2 challenges on Splitcoaststampers. I am the hostess for the color challenge #501 and I chose real red, crumb cake and coastal cabana.
red, crumb cake (kraft), coastal cabana
For this HYCCT1406 challenge, Lee is our hostess and she wants us to use a bear on our card.

I have been wanting to try the card in a box technique. I thought this was the perfect time.  I didn't use any stamps on this one just die cuts and punches and die cuts.

I used the fresh prints designer paper from Stampin-Up for my card. I thought the pattern was bright and cherry for my bear party.

The balloons are made from the Stampin-Up small oval punch. The cupcake is the cupcake builder punch and I used designer paper.

My bear is made from several punches: large & small oval, circle punches and the owl builder punch.
The "hi" word is a die from MFT. The hearts are a die from the MFT Blueprints 15 dies.
I found this tutorial on how to make the box in a card. The bear tutorial is from Heather's blog.

Well, that's my card for today. Time to dim the lights in Charmed Life Land for another day. So until next time.......God bless.

HYCCT1416 ~thankful & grateful~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog. I have been absent from Charmed Life Land this week because I was frantically trying to finish the challenge cards for the HYCCT on Splitcoaststampers.

I am happy to say that I finished my last one this morning and had it posted before the 12:00 deadline. Whew!! I am in stamping mode now so time to get my Christmas cards finished. I have all the Thanksgiving cards done but not mailed yet. Hopefully I will get them out this weekend or early next week.

The two cards I am showing today are from the HYCCT1416 challenge. Paula is our hostess and she wants us to make a project without using any stamps.

I used several dies to create these cards. The flowers are the "chloe die" from Memory Box and I cut them in peach parfait and cajun craze cardstocks. The thankful and grateful dies are from PaperTrey Ink. I layered them over a strip of cajun craze cardstock cut with the MFT Blueprints 3 die.

My background embossing on the first card is a folder from Cuttlebug "autumn type". The dotted card panels are designer paper from Stampin-Up's "season of style" collection.

Well, that's it for me for today. Time to get to some household chores that were put on hold since HYCCT started. So until next time.......God bless.

~Here For You~

Hello Blogger Friends! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Charmed Life Blog on this chilly Sunday in November. It's the end of daylight savings time for 4 months. Hope you all remembered to turn the clocks back 1 hour. It will be dark much earlier tonight - so goodbye summer-hello fall and winter!!

I feel like our home is in such disarray right now. We are in the process of painting a bedroom so the stuff from that room is in the other bedrooms. We had our desktop computer in this room. But, we got a new one and I am moving it into my new craft room. I have started turning my hubby's den into my craft room so that room is a bit of a mess right now. Lots of changes and I am excited for it to be all finished.

Now onto my card for today. This is another that I made for the HYCCT challenges on Splitcoaststampers. For challenge #11 we had Fran as our hostess with a chicks stick together theme.

She wants us to nake a card celebrating our sister peeps, friends or friendship. You are able to use images of friends, friendship sentiments or chickens.

I recently bought this Lawn Fawn get well set and it had this cute little nurse chick in it.

My background designer paper is from Stampin-Up's "epic day this and that" collection. I also used it to cut my flags.

Used MFT's dizzy doily die and stamped my sentiments. They are from 2 different Stampin-Up sets - "thoughts & prayers" and "blooming with kindness".

Well friends that is my card for today. Have to start getting ready for church now so until next time........God bless.
